Dragon Masters of Zekira Character Creation for
Partnering
Because DMZ dragons will mature, age and die, multiple
dragons may be paired with over the course of one character's lifetime.
It is vital to know how old the character is, and how old they would
naturally live to be, so that they will not be outlived by their dragons.

For the purposes of creating a character who will
be collecting cyber-dragons online, follow these simple guidelines!
You'll want to take a look at the Definitions
page, to understand what you're going to be writing up.
First, decide what sort of rank the character will have (or will TRY
to have as they grow older). Second, try and work out their strengths
and weaknesses. Next, decide where they live and what (or who) they
might own.
Dragon Masters are generally rather young. They should be old enough
to control a large animal, and they will have to be strong and healthy
enough to so as well. They don't have to be super-heroic in strength
or hugely big and muscular, they don't have to be rich or even have
any remarkable powers or abilities. What they must have is just a little
background, or get lucky and have even one single psionic power which
might allow them an edge over other people trying to bond.
Dragon Masters can come from any rank on Zekira (or from other worlds,
though they will have to remain on Zekira if they're from somewhere
else) and be from any location on the planet.
If you want to simply click to generate a character quickly, go here! That will produce a low-status potential Dragonmaster! Then, head to the Dragon Randomizer, to create one or more dragons appropriate to their abilities. Paired with this, is the Dragonmaster Event generator, so you can put your Dragonmaster and their dragons through their paces.
1 - Deciding what rank your character starts at
There are many ranks on Zekira, from Slave on up to High Holder. Because
you don't have to actually create a full Zekiran character for bonding,
you can select among these options. Click on the links to see if the
option is right for your idea. Then, come back to this page to check
the next creation point.
I want my character to be...
Of a low starting Rank
so they might increase it later
Relatively well off but still having to work
for
a living
Fairly rich or inheriting land from a relative, someone with time to kill
Specialized in their education and expertise so
they know more about dragons
Filthy Rich,
the envy of all around them
Character Strengths and Weaknesses
This is an area filled with variety. Check these links, and then come
back to the next section.
My character should be as normal as they come,
nothing out of the ordinary except they have a Tuning perk. They will
live their life pretty normally if they don't have a dragon all the
time, and have other skills they rely upon.
My character was born with a remarkable strength
and has always been healthy, but has no other amazing qualities. They
might be able to excell in certain aspects of work, but aren't going
to win awards with their brain power...
This character was normal until they turned 13,
and then they discovered all kinds of powers that might surface at any
time, some will be really important to riding or controlling Dragons!
My character has always had an affinity for dragon kind
or other animals, a pure psionic power which is important for dragon
Mastery, but also has some drawbacks like physical mutations that people
are uncomfortable with.
My character was Bred by a professional genetic
engineer
to become a Dragon Master! They're not suited to real life anywhere
other than with a dragon, fighting Aliens!
Choose from the
Powers, Mutations and Disadvantages if you wish!
Many Zekirans who are
Dragon Masters will have at least one unusual mutation (if you haven't
found one from the above suggestions!) so take a look. There might be
something interesting on the Powers
chart that inspires you. Perhaps the Mutations
will give a glimpse as to why they are the way they are.
2 - Decide where they live and what they own
This must rely upon their Rank. In each Rank link there is information
about their money and what they might be able to buy. Here are some
links for where they might be living and what those areas usually offer.
I want them to be from a big city, has seen lots of people or places.
This character comes from the suburbs or an average sized town
and has not traveled much except to the nearby big town.
My character is a home body, living in an isolated area, small town, perhaps near a farm or hunting
park.
This character has never seen a big town, they live in a tiny village or
small industrial boom town.
The character wanders from place to place,
never stopping for long. They could be a rogue, but they also might
be an explorer or jet-setter.
An Inner City home is often a floor of a smallish (they don't
build high buildings, they build WIDE) condo or apartment building.
It is anywhere from 600 spans to 2000 spans in size (4 to 8 Units, roughly
speaking -- that is to say the size of a typical nice apartment on Earth).
In it one could safely put nice furnishings and artwork, even maybe
have parties. Plush condos for the richer of the Status might be far
bigger than that, but also might be atop their own whole Business building.
An Urban home might be a bit away from downtown, but still
close enough that the commute is quick. The home might be a duplex-sized
house, around 800 to 2000 Spans (from 3 to 6 40% sized Units) and is
most often detached from its neighbors by a narrow strip.
A Suburban
home
would be a classic "ranch house" style building with several bedrooms
and bathrooms, and a largish yard. Normal size and value modifiers work
here, because this home is far enough away from the city itself to be
less valuable. It would be safe to say that most people on Earth's USA
soil live in a place similar to this.
A Boonies home would be placed outside the
City zone, but closer to that city than any other. It has a normal size
value, but perhaps a lower monetary value for the land itself. Most
people build these in the hopes that the land will become more valuable.
Now, WHERE are these cities? What does the terrain look like there?
Go here to view the maps and Area information. Remember that a single
Unit of land is pretty tiny. And that the more money and land someone
has, the higher Status they are. This IS the difference between each
Status: are they living in a one-bedroom flat in the middle of the city
because they're in Bond and can't afford their own place any more? Or
do they own a 300 Unit Hunting Park, two huge mansions with crafted
lawns and a Helicopter pad down by their fishing hole?
3 - Putting these items together
Once you know how old the character is, what their status and money
conditions are, and what sorts of physical or psionic abilities they
may have, there are only a couple other things to sort out before they'll
be ready to send to a Dragon House.
Appearance
Zekirans are not human, though
they are humanoid. They are very tall and usually slender, with weaker
bones and very little body fat on them. Their main different physical
aspect is that they come in ALL colors of the rainbow and then some.
They can have green skin, yellow hair, blue-violet eyes... Stripes,
spots, even fur or heavy hide due to a mutation. Their skin, hair and
eye color can also change with a condition (like being in the sun, but
also like their emotions, or physical condition).
Zekirans don't have color-based racism, because anyone can pair with
anyone else, and the children will come out somewhere between their
parents in appearance. No one color has ever been more or less of anything
-- status, strengths, psionics, money, or anything.
Zekirans also take a lot of pride in their appearance. If they're a
high status, they are more likely to have expensive clothing or hair
styles done by famous stylists. Those of lower status won't always have
those options and usually dress plainly or have poorer hand-me-downs.
Choose any colors you like for your Zekiran bonder!
Name, Other aspects
The Zekirans name their children with pleasant sounding non-words. Any
name on Earth would qualify, but these are aliens and might have very
odd ones indeed. Some of the higher status folks name their children
with real words, such as Tempest or Treason, or Hope. Usually those
children live up to their names, eventually.
Parents often attempt to combine their names for their children. Last
names are very uncommon but present, it is kind of a status thing to
be of a family line.
Why would that be? Because Zekirans are largely infertile. They have
trouble even bearing one or two children in a lifetime, and those lifetimes
last much longer than ours. A woman or man who is strongly fertile is
often called upon by Breeder doctors to bear more than most. Some family
lines have started because their parents have become known for their
fertility, and with a last name everyone knows that they're among the
physical elite.
Choose any name for your character, anything goes.
Age and lifespan
are indicated on the Rank choices. Your character should start out on
the younger edge of their lifespan. Only when they reach about 90% of
their full lifespan will they start to lose their youthful appearance,
and begin to suffer the effects of old age.
