Dragon Masters
of Zekira Character Creation
Strengths and Weaknesses
Check over each option carefully,
and note the information given at the bottom of the page
My character has always had an affinity
for dragon kind or other animals, a purely psionic power which is important
for dragon mastery, but also has some drawbacks.
This character is likely already an Animal Master or around animals from
their early childhood. They have been Bred by a breeder but they might
also be several generations down from higher-level bred ancestors who
have married or had children without the aid of a professional Breeder.
This has allowed different Status to have more Tuned powers, so there
are still a few out there with odd mutations too.
Each Status has a few different slants for jobs or skills which a type
has, read down to find your chosen Status.
Slave -- If not freed or Raised, this character has duties in a dragon
house or an animal farm of some kind, most likely working directly with
the animal in question, they will have a good specific knowledge of it,
but very little else
Bayaran -- This type will have less direct contact with a single animal
or type of animal, and probably more to do with its environment and upkeep,
like a steed boarding employee
Free Worker -- It's almost unheard of for a heavily Bred, strongly Psionic
person to remain as a Free Worker for very long. They might have started
here, but are winding up elsewhere quickly
Free Land Holder -- This Status might have a good lead on a currier job
or a steed farm, boarding a few steeds which might not even belong to
them. They might also have a pet store or a small stake in a hunting park.
Their education is strongly associated with animals, but they will also
have some paperwork and literacy to them
Membayar -- This Status has a lot of experience with running numbers and
matching people to creatures, they might have a Dragon Breeder around
them so they know a bit about genetics -- all that fiddly information
which Membayar thrive upon!
Owner -- Priveleged Owners are usually not Bred. But this time you've
lucked out. Steeds and dragons are very popular among young Owners so
learning about tack, fighting styles, race courses and flight patterns
is strong among this group
Suzerain -- Mostly as Membayar for their ability to select and work, and
most likely to become a Dragon breeder dual statused. They will know a
lot of math, angles and flight information before they even consider going
up on a dragon's back
Animal Master -- A thorough knowledge of all things Critter not only comes
with this Status but it's almost a requirement that the character do nothing
BUT know about animals, their environments, and their interactions. They
might find a new power or learn how to apply an old one to dragons
Dragon Master -- Dragon masters are very new, but they can range from
just-barely-psionic to knowing-all-there-is about their dragons. This
status will have the strongest connection to the dragons of all, tune
completely to their partner when they have one, and will know where to
head for the right new dragon
Dragon Breeder -- This new Status deal more with the anatomy and life
cycle of dragons than actually riding or commanding them. It's their job
to mate and care for the young of dragons, and to attempt to find good
partners for the hatchlings. This can be coupled with a good knowledge
of animals in general, or people in general, but often has little in the
way of other kinds of skills such as gambling or social things
Breeder -- These folks will be the ones who specialize in locating good
Tuned stock, for their works, or be ones who tend to the Masters if they've
been injured in combat. They will often be on the move a lot, so they
know more geography and have good social contacts
High Owner -- more of this Status will be riding and commanding dragons
than breeding them, because they simply want the thrill. But it's only
in addition to their already extensive social skills -- but can they make
a tuna salad sandwich? I think not...
High Holder -- those gigantic strips of land where Dragons are trained?
Those usually belong to High Holders. They still have a lot of skill in
politics and social situations, but they might also know more about lands
and dragon anatomy than others
This type of character can have several very strong powers, usually all
either Animal or Dragon Tuned. Because they are already known to be psionic,
it's just a matter of finding out their proper niche among their peers,
and not worrying about their other Status. They're bound to become Dragon
Masters or Breeders!
What about the powers?
This type will be very skewed toward Tuned psionics. Choose TWO "Special"
level powers, one or both of them being Dragon tuned only. Take four "Major"
powers, at least two of those should be either Animal or Dragon Tuned,
and four "Minor" powers, at least one of those should be Animal or Dragon
Tuned as well. The other powers should be associated with the type of
work they will be doing (so, environmental for 'land manager' types, mental
for 'choosing partner' types, etc).
What about the Disadvantages?
These mutants will be pretty specifically Animal in nature, though they
might show up with some odd 'other' kind. They WILL have one strongly
visible trait, a fin on their head/back, a long tail, fur covering their
whole body, etc, but they might also have several lower level things as
well.
This Type are unusually fertile, mainly due to the animal genetics which
were probably spliced into their ancestry. |
