Dragon Masters of Zekira
Character Creation
Location and Posessions
Check over each option carefully,
and note the information given at the bottom of the page
The character wanders from place to
place, never stopping for long. They could be a rogue, explorer or jetsetter.
Millions of Zekirans live inbetween big city Zones, just outside of the
legal limits. Some of them have village-size, but have not managed to
become officially Zoned. Most never will. There are escaped Slave colonies
scattered around the world, usually in hostile terrains so that their
old Owners will be less likely to find them. There are isolated hunting
facilities or fur farms, single-shaft mines, steed practice zones, all
manner of reasons to live far away from everyone and everything. Of course,
getting a good bet in before the start of a race is hard. And finding
running water or indoor plumbing in these places is almost impossible...
Zerin
-- Considered "Old World" in style.
This Land has six Areas, ranging from total farmland to huge craggy mountains,
deep forest, and wide marshlands.
Living in Zerin without a City is difficult in some places, yet paradise
in others. If suitable living arrangements can be made, the high Stetil
peaks could be a great mountain retreat. If a soft life of leisure and
plenty is more your style, a beach hut on the south shore of Bohata or
Reimal would be in order.
Tana --
considered to be between "Japan and the New Pacific Rim" and "Heartland",
because of its very different terrains. The north has the huge mountains
and forests, while the south contains almost continuous grasslands.
Unzoned life in Tana usually involves forest or grassland life. The mountains
are very difficult to navigate and are dangerous off-road to say the least.
The beautiful marshes near H'lan or K'vora are well worth seeing, but
the land might just swallow up an investment home. Safe forest homes and
big sprawling grassland sites where you could watch the native huge wildlife
go by are far preferable.
Curra
-- a wild and mostly untamed, heavily
forested Land, there are three Areas which have several beautiful cities
in them. The land is more northerly than all others, and is a bit cooler
than most, but has a gigantic grass plain to rival both Difar and Laiarta
put together.
Unzoned living in Curra can be easy and plentiful. There are several large
rivers which provide fish and water, all usually surrounded by beauty
and splendor. And nothing else for miles and miles... There are hardier
souls who like living among the trees and huge stone formations north
of the mountain ranges, but those get mighty cold during the winter, usually
snow drifts down to about 15' so be prepared...
Kiran
-- wild like Australia and close
to the size of Africa on its side. This is the only Land with a desert
and therefore a large amount of unusable land. Even so, there are deeply
desert-dwelling people.
If a desert is your fancy there's a big one. All three Areas on Kiran
have a portion of it to their name, and there is even a strip of southern
Tundra which is mostly unusable land running along Wo'ad. But if you wish
to have an easier time of it, the huge grass plain on the north, or the
truly beautiful rainforest valleys where Defin rests are for you.
These will be single homes, rarely with a few others beside it to round
out a community. A rest home, somewhere you put your crazy old Aunt, escaped
Slave communities (which can grow quite large, but of course are not recognized)
are dotted around every Area.
The key is to have the skills to build your OWN home, or the money to
afford someone to go out to your site and do it FOR you. Otherwise, what,
are you roughing it? Shudder!
There are many tiny islands which support life in all its forms, and those
have also been colonized but not necessarily recognized by their nearest
Area. There are hundreds of them off Zerin and Tana, and the edges of
most continents have larger ones which are not already taken.
