Dragon Masters of Zekira
Character Creation
Directions and Definitions
Each stage of Character
Generation will allow you to fill out your CIS a bit more. But what do
the explanations and information mean?
There are Stats with Ratings, which
Status, Breeding, Powers and Mutations may change.
Stats - the stats are descriptive
terms that show specific aspects of physical, emotional and mental abilities,
and are defined as follows:
| Stat |
Use |
|
Physical/Mental Stats
These can quantify the physical talents and
measure abilities almost in a mathematical way.
|
| Intelligence |
The brains of the character, how much information
they can learn and how quickly they can process new things. Whether
they are canny or dull witted. In the Zekiran world, it's Intelligence
that is valued more highly than almost anything else - that's why
it's at the top of the list. |
| Education |
As opposed to Int, the amount of skills possible
to acquire and how effective their learning is when applied. Intelligence
may modify how many more skills might be learned above their level
of Education, however a low Intelligence may mean a higher Education
takes longer to acquire. |
| Strength |
The physical bodily power of muscles in the character.
How much they can lift. This also combines with Health to determine
how much "meat" is on them, and how much damage they can
take |
| Health |
The stamina and general well-being of the character.
This combines with Str to show Body Type. Characters with high Strength
and low Health might be very lean and wiry, while those with high
Health and low Strength might be overweight or fat. |
| Agility |
The whole-body acrobatic ability of the character,
as well as the manual dexterity of their hands. Dragon Masters require
this, as well as jockeys and other such physical athletes. The character
may have a higher or lower Dexterity as opposed to Agility - mutations
or powers might alter this. |
| Reaction |
A measure of the time the character requires
to actually put their body into motion. It also measures physical
senses and sensory input - some characters may have increased scores
for only one sense, or one condition (eg: someone might only have
exceptional eyesight, so their score is a bit higher for visual cues.). |
|
Social/Emotional Stats
With the exception of Appearance, these are
things which cannot really be placed on a chart like weightlifting
ability or quickness of hand or mind. They are elusive social things
that define who the character is, instead of what they can do.
|
| Appearance |
The physical beauty or ugliness of the character.
Appearance in Zekiran society means a lot, and mutations or damage
might change their App score significantly - this is the "first
impression" type of reaction for others to see the character. |
| Charisma |
This is a longer term and more subtle form of
Appearance, the way that the character moves, talks, if they are charming
or annoying, or just plain 'plain'. After first impressions, this
score is often used to continue relations. |
| Social Skill |
All Zekirans understand their rank, job and titles.
However only certain Status might know particulars of life: a Slave
or Bayaran might be good at serving their Lord or Master, but only
their Lord or Master might be able to contact the right people to
hire an assassin. If they did that sort of thing. Which of course
they "don't." :) |
| Aggression |
The level of pent-up power within the character,
and how well they hold it in. Most Zekirans don't have high Aggression
scores, they usually are quite tame. However Dragon Masters must have
higher Agg in order to give themselves an edge in battle. |
| Sanity |
Many Zekirans live their lives without seeing
a brutal attack, or seeing someone with severe physical mutations.
However, if they do, their Sanity score may reflect how well they
take this new event. Low Sanity might indicate not only an inability
to cope with new things, but also a trend to do crazier things. Dragon
Masters run the whole range. |
| Courage |
While Sanity covers the reaction TO things, Courage
covers the ability to DO things. A Dragon Master must have a high
Courage to fly or send their dragons against the enemy - if they don't
they might consider a desk job... |
Each Stat will be rated at
a level between Very Low and Extremely High, see the chart as to how those
affect your Character.
| Level |
Zekiran Game Equivalent |
Description |
| Very Low |
01-25 |
The Stat is almost nonexistant, it
cannot be relied upon in stress situations, and might mean that the
character is easily hurt, frightened or clumsy. |
| Low |
20-40 |
Typical of lower Status characters
for certain Stats, however Low is still not a great level in terms
of reliability. There is always a chance that they might come through,
but it's a long shot. |
| Average |
35-60 |
Most Zekirans have Average Stats.
They will fail or succeed in roughly equal amounts most of the time,
but in general it's expected that Average means they'll be getting
by without much harm or embarrassment in life. |
| Above Average |
55-75 |
Some Zekirans have one thing they're
good at. They will succeed at this more often than not or be able
to sustain it longer than typical. |
| High |
70-85 |
Pushing the normal limits of ability,
a High Stat would help a ranking officer rally his troops, a socialite
throw a great party, or allow a Slave to endure a long stint working. |
| Very High |
80-100 |
The highly Bred individual is likely
to have at least one Very High score, and it is often their "prize"
type of score. Jockeys should have a Very High Reaction. Breeders
need a Very High Intelligence. High Masters always have at least a
Very High Social Skill. There is only a tiny chance that something
will go wrong when using a Stat or Skill that is Very High. |
| Extremely High |
95-100 or above |
Mutations and Powers, along with
high Breeding, can allow a Character to reach Extremely High levels.
They are rarely going to fail when using a Stat or Skill this high,
but there might be some condition they don't expect. No one is perfect. |
STATUS affects the ranking of each Character's
stats in important ways. Mostly it is expected that the Stat match the
Status, rather than the other way around.

Description and Breeding info |
Minimum and Maximums (barring Mutations
or Breeding) |
Slave
(Budak) |
A Slave does work for no money, and is kept
by an Owner (Lord) who must keep them fed, clothed and housed properly.
Slaves might do simple labor or hard work, depending on their skills
and stats.
Most Slaves are either Naturally bred or B3,
some B5 and B6, rarely B1 or B2 because they don't "get out"
much to meet partners.
|
No minimums, Edu and SS are normally
Very Low, while Strength and Health may be High due to physical expectations. |
Bayaran
(Bond) |
Someone who owes another person a LOT of money,
used as Slaves but with the stipulation they must be paid off after
their work is done. They must usually still pay rent and feed/clothe
themselves, but their Master might have a plan to help them out.
Bayaran are often B3 or Naturally Bred, very
rarely B1 or B2, but commonly B6 because they are the fruits of
someone else's Breeding experiment.
|
No Minimums, Edu and SS often Very
Low, if born into Bayaran. Health and Agility are often Average or
Above Average, while Sanity or Courage may be lower. |
| Free Worker |
The backbone of the world's working forces.
Normal people like you and me, who don't have much spectacular about
them, but might have one skill or ability to show off.
Natural and B1 are the typical Free Worker breeding
levels. Above that is unlikely but possible in almost equal levels
except B3 = never.
|
Typically no minimums, but Average
and Above average are Free Workers' friends. One or more Stat may
be High or Very High. It is *extremely odd* to see a Freeworker with
Extremely High anything. |
| Free Land Holder |
Holders run the small businesses of the world,
and hire many Workers to help. They are pretty much Free Workers
with some Land.
As Free Workers are Bred, no B3 and rarely above
B4.
|
As Free Worker, but one Stat SHOULD
be High. |
| Membayar |
The lawyers, bondsmen, and larger business owners
of the world. They may pay off Bayaran's dues, and they choose where
to send those folks. Often they are Free Holders who have enough
money to help their friends in need. They do big land deals, and
hold offices in government.
Membayar love their Natural, B1 and B2 levels,
very rarely B4 or B6, and almost never B5 - of course no B3.
|
Average minimum in Social Skill,
Education and Intelligence, no maximums but Strength and Health as
well as Reaction are often Average or Low. |
| Owner |
Those born with a bit of money and a Slave to
call their own. Owners usually have time and money to blow, but
can get into debt by their reckless habits.
Lords and Ladies are often Natural, B1 and B2,
never B3 of course, and very rarely B4 or B5. It's becoming popular
to have your offspring B6.
|
Social Status and Education are Minimum
Average, they tend to have High Aggression and Courage scores. |
| Suzerain |
A Membayar who has enough to Own now, or an
Owner who decides their business pursuits are more important than
fun and games. Holding more Land, Slaves and Bayaran than both the
above.
Suzerain are a bit more heavily Bred, concentrating
on B2, B4 and B6. Never B3 at birth, and less commonly Natural or
B1 and B5.
|
Social Status, Education and Intelligence
are Above Average minimum, while many times Health, Strength, Agility
and Reaction are Low or Average. |
| Animal Master |
Of course, Animal Masters are quite the crowd.
They can even look like the creatures they control. What fun.
What about them? They're very often B5 or B3
- many Slaves are found to be Tuned at their testing stage (around
age 10 or 12) and if they have significant Mutations or Powers,
they can be Raised to Animal (or Dragon) Master. They are ONLY Natural
or B1 when that person does not have any physical or mental Mutations
or Powers - very rarely do normal people endeavor to become Animal
Masters. Often they are B6 and less often B4, B2.
The most Natural B6's come from Animal and Dragon
Masters - because they are spliced or modified to be more fertile,
they tend to have a better chance of having offspring at all.
|
Animal Masters come in many sizes and appearances...
But they rarely have an Education or Social Skill over Average,
while their Strength, Health and Courage scores are often High or
above.
They do suffer from Problems* - see below Breeding
notes!
|
| Dragon Master |
This rare new category obviously takes up with
Dragons where Animal Masters leave off. They are specifically required
to fight against the threats of alien invasion.
Dragon Masters *can* be Natural and B1, but
why? B2 and B4 are more common, but B3, B5 and B6 are the most obvious
and common Levels to have a Dragon Master.
|
Often Education and Social Skill
will be Low, while Agility, Reaction, Strength, Courage and Aggression
must be at least Average in some way. Many will have at least one
High, Very High or Extremely High score. They also have Problems*
- see below. |
| Dragon Breeder |
The counterpart to the Dragon Master, one who
specializes in the cultivation and creation of only Dragons instead
of mere animals, as well as the Dragon Masters themselves.
Dragon Breeders *might* be Naturally or B1,
but stand a better chance of being B5, B6. Average chances at B2
and B4, and only the most rare case will have a former Slave at
B3 becoming a Dragon Breeder.
|
Now that we're higher up on the chart,
it's more Above Averages for the Dragon Breeder. Like the Breeder,
they have a better chance at High and Very High Int and Edu scores,
must be at least Above Avg. Str and Hea, Rea and San are often Avg. |
| High Lord |
This is the higher class version of Owners,
who have a far larger chunk of Land to Hold, and therefore require
far more Slaves to work it. Like plantation owners of the 18th and
19th centuries on earth, they are pretty powerful, but often can
lose everything with one drought.
High Lords are commonly B6 or B4, regularly
Natural and B1-B2, uncommonly B5, and never B3. They are also available
as Natural B6's.
|
Social Status and Education are Above
Average minimum, most other scores Average or up, except Sanity which
might be Very Low. |
| Breeder |
The Breeders are the most elite and educated
of the Zekirans, bar none. They range from common ear-nose-throat
doctors, psycologists and dream healers, to mad scientists.
Choose a Degree for them (Healer, Psyche Healer,
Dream Healer are all 1st; then 1-6 based on the Breeding types above).
Breeders are often Natural or B1, but also B6
and B4 are popular. They are never B3. They are occasionally Natural
B6's whose Mutations or Powers allow them to heal, sense or do things
"breederlike".
|
Minimum of High in Intelligence and
Above Average in Education, any lower than those and they cannot be
a Breeder. Aggression is often Average, as is Courage, Sanity is Lower
the higher Degree achieved. |
| High Master |
The cream of the crop, they own everything in
sight and they like having a party on their Land. Will you be available
to come? Of course. You wouldn't want to offend this type.
High Masters are often B6, but just as often
Natural or B1. B2 and B4 are rare, and B5 is uncommon. B3 of course
is never available. Natural B6 is a more frequent thing, but less
than the High Lords.
|
Minimum of High Social Skill, Above
Avg Education. Otherwise it's almost anything goes. Appearance is
usually Above Avg or higher. |
Breeding Levels affect all aspects of Characters.
From where they're born, to what specific mutations they might harbor.
Here is a list of what typical Breeding levels there are, and what they're
good for in your Character. Keep notations of what Breeding Level your
Character is at, because you'll need the information later!
| Level |
Description |
Rating Specifics |
| Natural |
Breeding by simple one-on-one means,
Joe normal meets Jane and they manage to have children. Nothing special
about their Breeding, and therefore nothing special about their Ratings.
Normally Bred people *cannot* have Mutations or Powers and therefore
cannot alter their Stats with those. |
All begin at Average and cannot go
above High except for Social Skill which can go to Very High. |
| Bred 1 |
A pair of people who have found a
Breeder to help them concieve. It's almost like Natural, only a bit
more "prestigious" - and more costly. It is rare but possible
for a B1 person to have a Mutation or Power, but they will be weak
or very minor ones. |
All begin at Average and can include
High. (And as above.) |
| Bred 2 |
Someone asked Jane to meet Jack.
Because Jane has some feature that Jack does too. A bit of nudging
genetically speaking, and you've got someone with a more consistant
feature, Stat or Mutation. |
All begin at Low but can include
one Very High. |
| Bred 3 |
Slaves are Bred 3. ONLY Slaves and
Bayaran can come from this level. (That is not saying they can't Raise
but they will start out only with those two.) They have been Bred
specifically for some reason, be it a color, feature, or Mutation/Power.
Not all Slaves are B3, but all B3 start out either Slave or Bayaran. |
All begin at Low but can inlcude
two Very High or one Extremely High - EXCLUDING Social Skill and Education
which are Very Low - unless modified by a Power. |
| Bred 4 |
Several generations of Joe, Jade,
Jazmine and Jimmy have been put into this Character's background,
again for a reason. More often than not, they will have a significant
Mutation or a Power that is useful. |
All begin at Average and can include
one or more Very High or one Extremely High. |
| Bred 5 |
"Tuned" Mutants all fall
into this category, those who are Animal or Dragon Masters often are
made specifically for their job, including for physical traits like
fur, tails, wings or other powers along with those. Their Breeders
know their genetics inside and out, but can only examine them - they
cannot alter them. |
All except Social Skill and Education
begin at Average. Social Skill and Education may start at Very Low.
One or more Stats may be Very High or Extremely High. |
| Bred 6 |
A genetic engineer has altered the
Character's basic structure toward a specific purpose. Many times
Slaves or Bayaran are born to B6, however they benefit from having
a high Status Owner or Master and do not suffer the penalties of Education
or Social Status. However... Many B6 individuals are *very* odd, either
in Appearance, Mutations, or Personality. They might not be able to
do anything BUT their specific job. |
All except Education and Social Skill
start at Average, SS and EDU start at Low. All but SS and EDU may
be raised to Extremely High - with problems* starting if there are
more than 3 at that level. |
| Natural B6 |
This last category occurs when a
fertile pair of B6 individuals breed normally. Their extremely odd
makeup and genetics can combine into new unique powers, mutations
or appearances. |
All begin at Average, 3 may be at
High, 1 or 2 should be at Very High, and at least 1 at Extremely High.
They too also have "problems"*. |
| *Problems? Why?! Well, because once you start getting
a "superZekiran" going, they will begin to have serious
mutations as well as powers - which might include psycological and
mental problems like Terrors, Compulsions or just plain scary appearances.
If you saw TREASON
walking down YOUR street, would YOU want to rush out and meet him?
Really?! He loves pain, and won't stop giving it to you unless you
beg... That's a serious problem in MY book... :) |
Any Power or Mutation that would add or subtract
a significant amount (6 or more points) to a Stat should be thought of
as changing that Stat's rating up or down accordingly. |
