Dragon Masters
of Zekira Character Creation
Strengths and Weaknesses
Check over each option carefully,
and note the information given at the bottom of the page
Character is as normal as they come,
only while they're around dragons their latent Psionic power turned on
-- they can now become a Dragon master!
This type of character is usually a little older than the typical Dragon
Master. They have had some time to develop skills and abilities in their
job before they realized they had a Dragon Tuning.
They can be from any type of job at all... Here are some suggestions --
but try out whatever you think might work best -- for your Status
Slave -- A typical field worker, seamstress or weaver, clay worker, miner,
most jobs that wouldn't pay much if they were paid at all
Bayaran -- Secretarial, fast food, cheap construction labor (not really
skilled), personal service (maid/butler)
Free Worker -- pick any low-level of skill, say at a 1st year College
ability for intellectual skills, or about 5 to 10 years of experience
in a retail, engineering, technical, or other skilled field
Free Land Holder -- as Free Worker, only with about 15 years of experience
or a college degree
Membayar -- young lawyer, starting a business, higher-tech jobs (computers,
etc), more skilled hand labor (fine cabinetry, wrought iron works, anything
which requires a bit of an artistic touch)
Owner -- gambler, steed racer or show arena participant, musician, reporter
Suzerain -- high tech fields such as video game production, programming,
design for clothing, architecture, composer, things which require more
attention to detail
Animal or Dragon Master, Dragon Breeder -- food engineering (breeding
plants, animals), hunting specialist, steed racer or breeder, race medic
(for steeds), pet store owner, any field which requires contact with animals
or dragons
Breeder -- usually healer or psyche healer, depends on what their other
status, if they have one, is. Often has a lot of experience with paperwork...
High Owner -- artistic fields, aggressive in the buying and selling of
things and/or people, politics, exploration
High Holder -- gambling casino owner, steed breeder (not as professional
as Animal Master though), artist, singer, politics
What this type of character will have is a lot of skill in one field,
and a bit of experience in real life things like reading, writing, math,
geography and the like. They might not have ever even SEEN a dragon in
real life up close, until their latent powers kicked in.
What about the powers?
A skill-based character like this should have only one or maybe two very
weak abilities. Usually those will be "telepathic communication" with
dragons, "empathy", "sensing dragons" or like that. Rarely, though, they
might suddenly develop a single stronger power which is more like a typical
Animal or Dragon Master's. The list of powers is HERE, their titles should be pretty self explanatory --
choose only among the Animal or Dragon Tunings.
If they choose to try using their power a lot, it may grow in ability
or scope. It might also BURN OUT! These types will not really be Bred
for this sort of thing, but they're probably just as good as anyone else
for their skills and ability to concentrate on the work at hand.
What about the Disadvantages?
Well, this skill-based type doesn't need to have any physical mutations.
They are pretty normal looking, unless it's absolutely necessary for them
to be 'odd looking'. Remember that the strange physical mutations only
usually occur on heavily genetically engineered people.
They might have some social or mental, or even normal physical disadvantages
though. These might include a stutter, being a bit of a wall flower, an
intense dislike or fear of something, they might have a limp from an accident
in their youth. Most of these will be very minor in nature, and will not
really affect the ability to ride or control a dragon of any type. They're
going to add flavor and little else.
