Dragon Masters
of Zekira Character Creation
Strengths and Weaknesses
Check over each option carefully,
and note the information given at the bottom of the page
The character was normal until they
hit puberty, at which point their genetics showed off all kinds of powers
which will allow them to Tune to dragons or animals.
Any Status of person can start this way. It's important to note that if
they are Bayaran or Owned by someone, they may be allowed to IMMEDIATELY
re-title to Animal or Dragon Master, if their powers are strong enough
and their Bond Agent or Owner wishes to do so. This is kind of a 'starry
eyed' way to start life, dreaming of flying overhead or swooping through
the seas, and then suddenly to find yourself able to do just that! It's
like a dream come true... with some occasional nightmares...
Each Status has a few different slants for jobs or skills which a type
has, read down to find your chosen Status.
Slave -- If not freed or Raised, the Slave Dragon Master still works for
their owner, but will be doing far more sophisticated work with animals
or Dragons
Bayaran -- As for Slaves, but they must be paid, and usually are paid off
for their Bond quickly as a Dragon Master
Free Worker -- It's very unlikely to come from this Status for this type,
because latent or hidden genetics are usually in more heavily Bred people,
they could have a job in steeds or tending dragons
Free Land Holder -- Just maybe having those eggs around is what triggers
it, but it's almost as unlikely as a Free Worker to come from this status
and have this Type
Membayar -- Just a bit more likely than Free Holders, Membayar might come
from a line of bred people and suddenly realize their talents. They will
have jobs assigning people to things, lots of book work which they usually
adore anyway
Owner -- Even though you'd like to think it's possible, it's very unlikely
to come from this Status with these powers, because Owners are notoriously
unBred
Suzerain -- Some of the newest Suzerain are very heavily Bred indeed,
and find themselves working among fine animal trades, steed farms, races,
shows and dragon sites of all types
Animal or Dragon Master, Dragon Breeder -- Any animal-or-food based job
is available to these people, depending on what they'd like to do with
their new powers
Breeder -- If they've multi-statused with Animal master or others, they'll
be Breeding people towards animal-mastery or dragon-mastery, while they're
breeding dragons toward people!
High Owner -- A huge bunch of High Owners are bred, and commonly find
themselves out in the wilderness looking for spare land to hold, new animals
to conquer, or wanting to go up fighting on a dragon
High Holder -- A more refined way of going through the hoops, High Holders
might own all the land that the dragons live on, collecting them via a
power, control their racing steeds, etc
This type has a very strong bunch of interesting powers, but usually little
in the way of other skills than are devoted directly to their work. They
will often not even be as literate or able in the math or geography department
because they have been a lower-status person before being Raised.
What about the powers?
A strong power-based character like this should choose among the powers
found HERE, take ONE from the "special" Dragon or Animal Tuning chart,
two Tuned "Major" and two or three "Minor" powers to round it out, they
can be from any other section as well for the Minor powers, to indicate
that this person hasn't been specifically Bred for this, but has a natural
combination.
What about the Disadvantages?
The mutations and psionic disadvantages chart should be wide open for
these types. With one solid Special power, that will almost assure the
character has some obvious mutation or disad. Usually these come in the
form of fur, scales, wings, other animal-looking mutations, but can also
be quite serious invisible ones such as terrors, allergies or susceptabilities
to things, or missing limbs.
These characters have a better-than-average fertility rate, but often
are infertile too. |
