Height / Build: 6'4" and very strong, she stands quite a bit taller than her mother, but isn't the gigantic ram her dad is. She is solid and muscular, with curves
Hair: charcoal black, usually kept in braids or when natural wooly it's literally wooly her dad's a ram Kin. Does like having a little straightened or some playful extra, a weave sometimes, beads or other accessories, but it does all have to work under those horns
Eyes: red brown, quite strong and intense
Appearance: though she has medium brown skin it's actually covered in a heavy velvet that if left ungroomed will become not just aggressively curly, but slightly crystalized. This is her father's influence, as the stone parts show up in various places on her body... She has a mostly human appearance save for the presence of the curled horns (which on most sheep kin exist on males as well as females) and has a thumb and 3 fingers with heavy hoof-like nails on her hands, similar with her feet though she often will use specialized boots. She does also have a short tail. She is quite pretty, with a heart shaped face and large, pretty eyes, but her expressions are often rather gruff. Those wings are capable of only breaking a fall but she has other uses for them, given (see below)... She has a very strong and loud voice, somewhat grating if she's annoyed, and she often dresses in her boldest outfits though the one shown is an official TCCS Rescue and Hazard combo. Genetic Abilities: Betshiba inherited only what her parents wanted to show off together - she's neither fully Kin nor fully Skin, and she loves this. From her bones which are literally made of metal, her muscles that support power lifting a bus, her skin that hardens into an 'ablative crystal', and her wings which are sharp as obsidian but twice the strength of steel... She is a mistress of stone and her urban setting. She has powers that affect beyond herself, but only marginally, see below.

Physical Elemental Modifications - as the experiment that changed her father, she has added bonus strength and powerful muscularity, but her bones are very, very hard and actually much lighter than his due to their exact composition.

-- Ablative Armor Fur (short almost like carbon fiber that takes 8 points of overall damage but is not resistant to fire or psionics, this does shed and is very much an allergen, see below)
-- Armor Piercing Feathers (can pierce up to 3 points of armor and does 8 points of impale damage, act as armor for heads and small people she's holding up to 6 points of all damage except electric and psionic; these are still feathers, they still grow, will molt once every other year, though they will all remain as hard and sharp as if she's still wearing them, so she has a collection... and might actually start handing them out -with waivers to cover her legally- for fans)

Gliding Wings - can throw those feathers, but also they do expand a little bit larger than shown and can break a fall from up to 2 stories, but she won't take damage anyway
Super Leaping - since she got the smaller flightless wings, but does have incredible leg strength, Bets can bunch her legs up and leap literally up to if not over most 'tall buildings' in a single bound. She takes care to remember which structures have reinforcements - this is a dragonry town after all so there are plenty of rooftops that have either crumbled away or been remade with this in mind. Like her dad she has the ability to do a 'jump kick' that incorporates just enough of a leap to get airborn and then packs quite a whallop on impact |

Civil Engineering And Service +4 Though she's only just really starting out on the design and upkeep aspects of this, she knows how to get around a structure, the roads, skyways, and urban areas with ease. She'll be able to tell how far the plumbing is backed up, where the sink-hole will develop, and whether the building will topple inward or outward. As she's part of the hazard rescue team, she has practical experience with the results of shoddy construction or mistakes in records-keeping or blueprints, since most of these problems as well as the occasional 'villain plants a bomb' incidents involve rubble and ruin in some way. Like her dad she's extremely apt to just go right up and start lifting concrete and brick rubble, carefully calling out and listening for responses. But she goes a step farther in that she can look at what's left of a building, to know who might still be there or where the worst of it has fallen. When she's finished with her part-time school degrees in this regard, she will work directly with city planners and architects as well as be able to oversee safety behaviors and make sure everything is up to code. All of these individually mean +3 Skills for anything related to structural and city-based location rescues including sewers and water lines, electrical towers and transmission stations, and the like |

Truly Well Organized +4 Will always read the manual first, make whatever notations and corrections needed later, but is prepared in the field for any sort of emergency. She's the one who makes checklists for rookies and refresher courses for more experienced members of the team, and appreciably also includes the 'why we do this' rather than just blowing off any hot-headed responses. When someone does come up with a better plan, she will incorporate it once she sees it in action
Knows The Area Way Better Than You +4 While she was born and to an extent raised down south in Crescent City, her late teens and early adult life will be filled only with Talon City's busy streets and tall skyscrapers. However she still remembers the way as well as the landmarks for spots around Carramba, and has visited Paragon City with both parents separately and together, and has a good idea of why things keep going bad there... they built on magical cavern ruins... duh! If you need directions, all you need to do is add what method of transportation you're taking, and she will not steer you wrong. (she's not a calf let's not go there...)
Knows Her Own Strengths +4 when you can indeed lift a trolley car away from the ground before that ground is busted up by an underground fight, you also have to know how to not crush the mayor's hand when he wants to give you an award later. Her fingers and equally capable, and she knows just how much pressure will break a solid wall (is it brick? is it drywall? marble on the other side?) or how to exert enough torque to bend a light post around the unconscious enemies after a fight. Since she grew into her strength, year after year, and has parents who both want to make sure that no mistakes are made after a growth spurt, she has access to tests and danger-room equipment (thanks to SACCADE) that easily record any changes or improvements to her skills and strength |

Rescue First, Whine About It Later +/-3 She is rather abrupt when she does find someone cowering in the back of a van that's loaded with explosives, and will not offer even the slightest pause if someone flinches. She can protect even the most recalcitrant gang member or child who doesn't want to stop watching the fire, but she will not put up with a moment of hesitation on their part. This has led to a few instances of having to go to court - where she's uniformly given a pass for it
Can Use Being Pretty To Distract +3 Bets was not the 'popular girl' in school, though every one of those popular ones would give a muttering curse about how pretty she was. She's definitely not above swaying her hips, letting someone get a glimpse of her little tufted tail (which while working is always kept under the uniform), and doesn't mind being ogled since y'know, she's still just vain enough... Villains and Heroes alike, as well as bystanders and team mates, all of them enjoy seeing her in some way. Whether she's giving a pose for someone's selfie (she allows it with a half-fake smile) or literally butting heads with a stubborn wall that she knows she can break, people like watching her in action
Deadly Allergen Producing Fur +1/-3 You don't want to breathe asbsestos, or insulation, or carbon fiber dust. Basically her fur is entirely made of carbon fiber pieces, that can lodge in anything, and may cause some tremendous damage - to eyes, nose, and mouth in particular - so when she's out and about, she covers up. There is a reason she's wearing a full suit, she doesn't need it for protection of course, but to protect others. If she's in civvies and wanting to actually show some of her pretty brown velvet, she has to put a good layer of a specifically-formulated lotion on it that keeps it from falling off for a few hours. Her dorm is notorious for having to go through a large amount of air filtration, similar to her dad and brother with their more coarse ablative fur. But she can also weaponize this, worst-case scenario she scrubs her hand and throws this carbon glitter at an enemy - they can be healed, it's not like this is permanent in this day and age, but it will hurt, and they will need to be healed quick...
Doesn't Float, Cannot Swim -2 In a beach side instance, there is one thing that causes her to put the brakes on and let the hero be someone else. She doesn't necessarily float. She cannot hold her breath that long, but could certainly get in and out of a deep-end pool in time to get someone to safety. But beyond that, deeper water, ponds and lakes, and definitely that gorgeous ocean they've lived beside for her entire life? That's ... basically off limits. She has metal bones. Now fairly she has been offered classes on 'deep dive equipment' which she would perhaps be up for trying at some point! But for the moment, she doesn't 'do' the water rescues |

Powers: Winged Flight - She has large, strong wings and is capable of lifting the bigger and more ungainly pieces of rubble that her bond cannot get a good grip on. The sheer force of her flight does cause some amount of bluster and dust kicking up, so she prefers to remain carefully poised when she does get to ground level. She can take off and land without a very wide location, but that does mean she's going to leave dents in the ground - just like Bets... she will land at least a full block away so as not to disturb anything on impact, and walk carefully toward the location once Bets has cleared her for guard duty. Since she's big, Bets has taken it upon herself to make sure that the capacity of any given location is suitable. Chimalma doesn't mind being asked to wait above, but she will definitely make the attempt to remain near enough to be of more use on the ground
Telepathic Speech - very few people have heard her mental voice, but she does confer with her rider almost constantly when they are on active duty. Certainly whenever they are on a site looking for survivors or evidence, she'll keep her keen eyes peeled waiting for the signs of movement, and can help triangulate when a perpetrator has escaped and is on the run. Her mind voice is as sharp as that ribbon scale on her legs, or her spines - and really the only person who weathers that sharpness is Bets
Enhanced Night Vision - with her ability to see in near complete darkness, residing and working in a city that basically only takes a break overnight... There are quite a few things she can see however that are outside of the norm for her bond or most humanoids. She can discern colors in detail even at a reasonable distance in the dim city at midnight, and can see clearly anything you'd typically get on a clear day during a cloudless and full-moon night. Closer up however, she can see leftover dust if there's a small amount still hovering or falling when someone's rushed by, and though she can't see microscopic things she can still detect a good amount of motion even in the dimmest of alleyways or under fallen structures. She is too large to go into most underground locations, and definitely not enter buildings that aren't designed for her size, but when there is a large open area it can have nary a nightlight and she'll still be able to make her way through it. (She does like visiting Paragon City - they do have flight-sized caverns somehow!)
Blue Fire Breath Weapon - unlike the brightly golden-orange reflective tape she resembles, her fire is a hot neon-blue shade. Warmer than a typical fire but not so much that it would melt metals unless she concentrates on a small spot for a while. However, this flame is very bright, and as such gives her the opportunity to serve as a location beacon until others arrive, breathing a steady bright line into the sky over her location. She will not use this fire on small beings, nor to hunt

Other Info: by her breed, Chimalma is typical for her loyalty, singleminded focus on tasks, and effortless guardian type behavior. She goes much deeper than this, though, having found a friend in Bets - who can also claim every one of those traits for her own. Plus, bonus feature - she doesn't take damage if needing to ride by those very-sharp spines!
While Bets is down on the ground for the most part, Chimalma will patrol the skies over Talon and usually finds herself resting on street corner structures when nothing much is happening. But when any kind of danger can be sensed, that brief flash of a gun? was that manhole cover moved and is that a slippery shadow of a thief? is there a trace of underlit smoke from that roof on fire? She'll immediately go into full ground-service patrol mode once the air is clear for fliers to descend. Her colorful and shiny underwings can spread across an entire street in many areas of Talon's downtown, and she places herself between any incoming - or fleeing - people so they either stay where they're needed to be cornered, or kept out of a dangerous spot. She takes great pride in this, and has decided that Talon City has her as its talons! |
