Moths, Two Aflame

“Moths, Two Aflame” is the name of a modestly popular band centered in Bahari City, that travels along the coast, to Akwinduu, and into Kilima on rare occasions (mostly to collect more moths and butterflies).

With five members, they have a variety of instruments covered, but are almost always known to hire local musicians to help perform larger and more ambitious works. Notably they sing about how their Paths were something else, before meeting and becoming a musical group, and their ballad “We lost our path, but we found one another” has proven to be very popular among teenagers and even elderly listeners who may have also lost their original Path only to find a new one. Many of their songs have puns in their titles, as their band name also does, even if the contents of any given ‘funny sounding name' may be more serious. “Two-fer Oneness” for instance (see below); and “Ebb-on Flow”, bemoaning the loss of generalized magic use.

They have two Galdur that tend to follow them or be working with them on tours - Etrih, their sound engineer who makes sure that every piece of equipment is properly tuned and any recordings are to a high standard; and Daton, who is actually a photographer attending the concerts for PR and commemorative images for fans. They do not compose or perform, but at times the group has used the sounds that the pair make as ‘samples' or a beat, and at least one of their hits was an adaptation of the musings on their state of being, by one or even both of the Galdur.

The unexpected appearance of a young (at that time not quite even fully weaned) Grimalkin named Zane Hangclaw in the back of their caravan coming from Barafuu might have caught them some trouble from the Grimalkin Cartels. They chose to protect the cub, and his expertise at managing finances, finding or looting more of it than he knows what to do with, and his (gasp) generosity mean they will fight the cartels to keep him.

They have been touring for the last 8 years - long enough for their youngest member Zane to go from a smaller kitling to a sub-adult - and continue to look for new venues and older subjects to revive in their songs. They look to the skies, the stones in the ground, in lakes and seas, and even just down a town street for inspiration. During their travels, they often make recordings while in natural settings such as caverns and open fields, and eventually return to civilization to cut down and edit those into sale-able records. Zane's ability to hawk their wares, Najwa's connections in upper-end settings, and the Galdurs' steady ability to construct and set up their stage keep the routine successful. Not that the Maji group couldn't handle most of this themselves but after their first year together they found everyhing considerably easier with the Galdurs, and far more lucrative with their wily Grimalkin.

What happens after the group is discovered by 'more new Humans'? These ones however are clearly not the same as the ancient creators of all the ruins and artifacts found across the world today. They proved to the group that they weren't 'gods' - they rode dragons? Not 'tamed', not deities, but real flesh and blood creatures? Convinced that they'd been in the right place at the right time, the Moths go to a wild party on a distant planet! This entire group (possibly including the Galdur) have been brought to Tris'hath's second Warren Rave.

Was it magic? Flow? An accident? No one knows, but the fact that their god is a dragon and there are dozens of amazing dragons here seems to indicate that Maji wanted this to happen! How else would this group travel far and wide - farther and wider than they'd ever gone on foot?

While they definitely will perform if asked, uniformly they're wide-eyed and trying to take everything in, each in their own way. They will be writing songs about this for... well, for ever more than likely!
