Name: Vel Yinn

Age: 40s in ABY3

Species: Zabrak, possibly an Iridonian Dathomiri hybrid given coloration and features

Family: Unknown, deceased during the Clone Wars

Profession: Jedi Master, currently instructor at Carramba High School

Origin: Iridonia, moved to Jedi temple at the age of 3

Current Whereabouts: Carramba High School / Crescent City / Twoarth

Height/Build: 5'8", slender and curvy

Appearance: Dusty pinkish-grey skin with black tattoos indicating her bloodline as well as her induction to the Jedi order; has full dark lips and smooth facial features, and while she has quite a bit of starlit-white hair braided to her thighs she lacks eyebrows; small horns along skull; vibrant orange eyes; slightly pointed ears unusual for her species; she prefers silver metals and blue dyes, matching her lightsaber blade as well as the color that usually appears in her aura according to others looking at her Force presence. Wears pleasant velvet blue shirt and leggings, with deep indigo-blue skirts that hide quite a few pockets, and boots in paler blue with silver trim; all in all she more greatly resembles a princess than a jedi, but who's going to complain? Vel has a husky voice capable of deep growls as well as piercing ululation, but typically she speaks in an even, somewhat quiet tone.

Lightsaber and Blade: Her katana blade is almost entirely silver, but kept in shape using Force honing, and has a silk and animal-hide woven grip in pale silver and white; her lightsaber being blue seems just right for her! Its hilt is also smooth silver, though it does have a heavy woven silk and hide grip too. These both usually rest at her sides but can be hidden easily by her skirt or belts. She'd had her lightsaber for quite a few years before needing to hide it, and picked up a metal blade very easily, training with a local smith for a short time to make sure she knew that this blade didn't vanish on command...

(Ages/Dates approximate)

BBY ~40 - discovered by Jedi and arranged to head to a temple for training; a quick study and a very strong sense of justice lent her to study a lot of history and politics the moment she was able to do so. The creation of her blue lightsaber blade was considered unusual, most figured she'd take green or even yellow for it, but 'she likes blue best'...

BBY ~20 - an argument with the Jedi Council led her to recuse herself from participating in matters of Jedi politics, and also led her away from areas that most Jedi would be found. This saved her life when Order 66 was issued, and she did not participate in any way during the Clone Wars, save to help people on worlds where fighting had done damage

BBY 20-ABY 0 - Vel attempts to remain reasonably hidden but still works with people lending them the hope that their galaxy will recover from the events that have brought an entire world to its end. The shattering of Alderaan was a wakeup call for a lot more than just rebels and senators, after all. But to truly combat evil, an entire generation of new leadership as well as new ways must be formed. She had met with Karen -staring at her oddly for a while before realizing her names were those names and those people? - and understood the need for both discretion and balance

ABY 6 - With Karen's multidimensional dragons aiding her, Vel wound up instructing at Carramba High, not even her home dimension but with such brilliant kids and a strong support of everything they stood for in the new era. Vel is positive that some of her students will go on to topple the rest of the Empire in their home dimensions

Vel teaches several unusual classes, after realizing that she could just... Have fun? After decades of hiding and scooting around always having to look over her shoulder and vanish at the merest whiff of Imperial Inquisitors, Vel Yinn is a good choice for any student that needs to find their own way in style.

Practicing Force Powers 1; Specific to the Far Galaxy, everything from meditation and reaching out to find new blossoming Force-minds, to yes, zappy lightning from your fingers we'll get to that you have to have a special permit for that. Stop zapping your desk partner. No Force Choking.
Force Sensitivity Training 2; Because a lot of the people at this school have a variety of 'magical power' the Force is often overlapped with Vortal energy from Xen, 'magic' from all over the place, psychic or psionic energy, and comes with so many different names even in her own home galaxy! Learning how to detect and not be detected, discovering which particular 'flavor' of energy your buddy has going when they're bending spoons with their mind, blotting out overwhelming numbers of minds, that is all covered in this class
Martial Arts for the Fashion Conscious 3; When you need to look good and also beat down bad guys, without ripping your nice new blouse! How to choose gear appropriate for not only a fighting style, but for the event you know you're going to be attending
Careers: Diplomatic Envoy (Far Galaxy) 4, 5; She is very enamored of the idea that with a firm hand and a caring, empathic mind, you can achieve real peace. She'd been denied this back home for so long, and did in fact stew about it all that time, thinking perhaps 'if only we could do this, if only they didn't have to do that'. Now, she can do this, and not that, and so can her students
Weapon-Based (lightsaber and sword) Martial Arts 6, 8; She has had many years of practice with a disparate pair of weapons, and helps both regular non-powered students as well as those gifted with any form of Force-like powers use similar gear. Though she prefers to have students that are Force-adept, anyone who has exotic weapons or ones which benefit from alternate energy or abilities such as levitation or speed boosts, she can help train them not cut their own arm off when they're doing fancy tricks

There had been quite a few faces of people from her home dimension that Vel Yinn saw the odd looks upon, but didn't connect just why they were looking at her particularly that way. Not until Karen came up to her between classes one afternoon. "You remember the dragons of course," one of those that tagged along with her tilted their head and snorted, "well they talk, and they've found something that I think will suit you very well. You and some others," she gave a glance around but it was pretty clear that she wasn't seeing anything in this dimension that would help. "A dragonry has a new clutch, with interesting parentage."

Vel wasn't much for being dumbstruck, she had always known how to speak her mind and make decisions quickly. An opportunity like this, while it might seem commonplace on Twoarth, was hardly one she could miss back in their Far Galaxy. So Vel packed a few things, while Karen made arrangements not just with the school administration, but with her own dragons (there was a student also from their locale, already packed and geared up) eventually they headed off to this place, Darkling Dawn.

It was, what Vel might call... 'storied'? She'd lived in some very modern spots like her apartment on Twoarth, but also some extremely ancient ruins, dusty old temples, and the like. This place, while not 'ancient' in those ways, was definitely ... lived-in, that was a good term. It had seen use, plenty of it, and was apparently going strong. She liked that about it. There were many humans, probably the same proportion as she'd seen in a lot of Far Galaxy locales before coming to the school. A couple of them looked like they were up to something, but she was shortly led to a candidacy instruction area, her dorm, and the like - and didn't see those people for another few days at least.

She was set up with Jargra in her care briefly - he wasn't so young that he needed an adult supervising his every move, but he was nearly old enough to become a Padawan, and she had so missed that aspect of training younglings... Even if he already had a group of people, she got to teach him improvised Force-weaponry use at CHS, and she could also help here. His group's overall Master was wise and kind, but they had also been isolated for a year or more before he came to Twoarth for his classes. Getting used to people was something he wanted too!

They didn't have a lot of time to do that, but it definitely became busy with activity just barely after they were sorted with their dragon-training briefs. Dos and Don'ts, who to contact ifs, that sort of thing. But with a full support staff on several dimensions with dragons, both Vel and Jargra knew they didn't have to look too far for help if their dragons got hurt or lost.

If - if their dragons. But first they had to have ones come to them! And that happened rather quickly after the crooning of the adult dragons led everyone down to the hatching sands. Those two humans were also plotting things up in the stands, Vel's highly-trained 'Empire Might Be Watching' senses kept her glancing up to them.

But shortly, there was no need to worry - the very first egg hatched to reveal a 'day-winged silver', the mother of this nest was happy with this result. Before that dragon made a full circuit around the candidates, a second egg hatched and that dragon wobbly-followed behind. But she had to continue on her own search for the right candidate, because the first had come to a halt by Vel-Yinn.

Her mind was clear, crisp, like a chilly day; Vel-Yinn, it is good to meet you. I am Tallys.

There was a wonderfully strange sensation, Vel's Force sensitive mind and pretty much every cell in her body lit up. This dragon's mind felt... right. Felt like she fit right in there, didn't even have to shuffle things around, just settled directly, as if she'd been there all along. And while she really did want to see how Jargra would fare - or anyone else she'd met in their short time here, Tallys was hungry, and that urge settled in to Vel's mind too.

They had the opportunity to learn more about dragons than ever, just by following along with Karen's pack of them. They'd spent two months at Darkling Dawn, mainly to make sure that their dragons were strong and healthy enough to travel. They wouldn't be remaining too much longer, as both Master and Padawan learned quickly how best to attend the needs of their little, growing, dragonets.

Vel Yinn and Jargra Ztesh would stop at the dry and dusty starport-in-progress of Ketvaozh, and put in a few weeks of endurance training with Tallys and Curresh, but honestly while the heat was fine for either of them, both preferred more humid conditions. For that, they went back to Izorrat with Karen's bunch of dragons.

They thrived in the misty mountain air, but also explored thick jungle marshes, and found a few spots where the Force was more strongly focused than they expected.

The pair of dragon siblings remained on the surface, keeping close eye on the wild animals as well as their minds tuned to their more distant draconic friends back at Karen's temple home.

Be careful in there, Tallys warned, I felt something slippery.

"What do you mean, slippery?" Vel Yinn said out loud, and Jargra's round eyes went even wider than they typically would. But he was careful and mapped out their location with a drone tool, noticing how there were several oddly-symmetrical holes around the tunnels they walked. It was his quick action that let them escape the eel-like creatures that swarmed from those holes. Jargra could put those cartography skills to good use immediately, no need to repeat most of it to himself, impressing even Vel.

Jargra graduated from CHS and would move on to other places, not merely as a Padawan to other Jedi (and... honestly, other non-Jedi) but as a valued friend! Besides, he was a great pilot and she'd want to make sure he had the nice uniforms and comfortable, durable protective gear that any engineer and pilot should wear. Ever proud of her Padawan as he moved on to those others, Vel and Tallys watched as he sped off to help rescue a group of Younglings somewhere.

Protective as always, Tallys nudged her rider's shoulder. He will be fine, you taught him well.

"Well there are quite a few others waiting for the chance to be taught well," Vel announced, looking at her new schedule and just how many Far Galaxy students were now signing up... Tallys seemed to be far more energetic about meeting new people, and even if she uses 'small words for small people' to describe instructions or locations, there is much more to her than that.

Tallys

Name: Tallys
Gender: Female, clutching
Size: medium (blue-sized) small 9' s / 40' l / 60' ws
Build: Strong and muscular at adulthood, but quite even in overall strength
Physical Features: Darkling Dawn typical 'mutt' with pernese and alskyran, lantessama, and ryslen influences
Colors: Silver Day, with a burnished silver body; wingsails, neck crest, and tail spade all grade from silver at head to very deep indigo blue, with wings mostly a pure cloudy-day blue; claws and horns white, eyes turquoise
Abilities: Winged Flight, Tallys is in a word, sleek. She slips through the air like a whip, can turn and twist, moving around tree canopy and skyscrapers with superb ease. She reserves any wilder moves for when Vel is not riding, but occasionally Vel will laugh and cheer as if she were on a roller coaster, because basically... she is!
*Teleportation, fiercely accurate, Tallys goes from point A to point B with purpose. Where flight is fancy, if you need to be somewhere right freaking now, you will be there, a little chilled and perhaps a little shaken but you'll be in one piece and she will move on to the next destination. Tireless, sure, and confident. She learned a lot from Jargra while growing up, just like her rider did!
Verbal Speech, *Telepathy, Tallys has a pleasant voice, almost matronly and deep but always distinctly feminine in mind and audibly. She will convey what she knows and sees quickly in a telepathic burst to her rider, but if someone needs instructions she will speak carefully and use words that are easily understood
Psionics* - paired abilities that are usually inherited together
Unassisted Firebreath, she leaves fire alone, unless it's to light a camp fire or briefly illuminate an area with a single brightly-white plume. While the color is whiter than typical, it's not really hotter, and doesn't do much in the way of damage. Showy, but not dangerous
Strong Mental Illusions, Tallys has a sharp mind and is always looking out for her rider or those children she's training. Together they have found ways to enhance the Force using community's training, anything from thinking the floor is lava to these are not in fact the droids you're looking for. She probably picked up some of this from Vel's memories of having to evade detection for over 2 decades... But they put this power to use when pitting young students against dangers that can't be reproduced physically, testing their reflexes as well as their mental and emotional fortitude

Meeting Notes: (from hatching so I don't forget) As she searched, a second egg hatched into a fiery sunset-colored hatchling. Almost the inverse of her sister, this dragoness displayed silver wings, and likewise followed in her sister's footsteps, a step or two behind the older hatchling as they moved among the candidates. The silver-day hatchling was the first to find her bond, stopping in front of one of the alien candidates with a croon. Vel Yinn , it is good to meet you. I am Tallys .

Described as playful, happy, and more intelligent than she seems, Tallys truly thrives in the school environment that her bond works at. In fact, wouldn't it be fun if she was part of their child care system? She really would like it, and the kids already like her!
