Characters who come from the Free Land Holder or Membayar Status might be
for you.
Free Land Holders are basically people who own their
own home or business. They often have inherited it from their family,
one way or another getting into the family business. They often have only
a small house or a tract of land, but it's what they do with it that's
important.
Free Land Holders, or FreeHolders, have enough money stashed away that
they can pay bills normally without having to get a Bond agent to do it
for them. They can also always sell their Land or a part of it, to pay
off a larger debt. This is something that Free Workers can't afford to
do.
Like Free Workers, FreeHolders can do whatever their bodies, hands or
heads can manage. They are often owners of small businesses, like a tavern
or stables, pet store, or other such thing. They can run for low ranking
political offices, but are rarely chosen. They can afford better education
because they are not forced to live by renting.
Why would a Free Land Holder become a Dragon Master? They might have land
which is on good Dragon breeding grounds, or even have come across eggs
by accident! They might have a good eye for the right kind of Dragon,
they're more skilled than physical in their Dragon mastery.
Membayar
have taken the art of buying and selling to an art.
They hold land, usually in large amounts considering their moderate status,
but they often simply sell it off or work people on it so they can afford
better Holds somewhere else.
They are able to put people into Bond, up to a certain number of them
a year based on how much money they themselves are worth. So if they have
a big farm which they use Bonds on, that farm is a good, steady income
-- unless the crops fail!
Membayar are often considered as Lawyers, businesspeople, and accountants.
They are best at those things, but there are always Membayar who make
their living singing or selling pretty stones to people who don't need
them. Membayar are often successful politicians.
Why would a Membayar become a Dragon Master? Well, that's a good question.
See, they're able to wheel and deal better than most, so they have the
option of getting in where others might not... Scamming? Who us?
Things you'll need to remember
FREE
LAND HOLDERS can choose from 1 to 399 Units of Land to own.
A Unit is about 1000 square feet. In big cities, the actual footage of
a Unit is often less than 1/5 that of the suburbs, so keep in mind where
they live when deciding how much Land they Hold. If they Hold more than
that, they've got to be of another Status. They can have any job they
can keep down. They MIGHT go into Bond if something really terrible happens
to them, but more likely the'd be able to sell off their Holdings and
work back up to their Status again.
Land Holders start at age 15 to 20. Their lifespan is average at 150 to
250.
MEMBAYAR have
anywhere from 400 to 600 Units of land, usually in big chunks in outlaying
regions of city Zones. They might run a big farm, a mine, a Steed boarding
facility, or have an industrial area (anything from a sweat shop making
cheap shoes, to a sleek plant that does electronics). Membayars also can
Bond people, if they pay someone's debt off. They do not HAVE to have
any Bonds, at any given time, it's just an option.
Membayars are a little more experienced and start at age 16 to 22. Their
lifespan is around 160 to 250. |
