ElKayE graduated CHS 'a couple years ago', attended C4 'a couple years ago', and started working her DJ jobs 'like, way before that'. Her mutations allowed her to show off from a very early age and she's never stopped
Party! Party! (responsibly) Party!

Mutation - sound and light production; quite similar to a Marvelverse girl known as Dazzler or somethin', LKE's powers stem from molecular agitation and excitation. She can sense and discern even the slightest movement or presence of energy, and manipulate it at a short range

Musical Mixing genius, she's not synaesthetic but she is darn close, so she can put the right images and colors or patterns to whatever sounds she's hearing; extensive musical knowledge though she isn't necessarily a musician
Easily distracted, particularly by celebrities and musicians; tends to enjoy her partying a lot, though she won't ever encourage kids to do 'what she did' when she was their age
She does have to lug around some amount of equipment to work, but likes hiring locals to set up the basics, maybe she does need a sidekick or something
Physically she's not really 'strong-strong' but she does carry her one big-ol amp around every once in a while
Can keep up her job as a DJ alllll night long! Does like getting a good out-cold sleep when she's done though
When you have to hit exactly the right button, at exactly the right time, while also bopping to the beat, she's right there
LKE is decent with crowd-weaving and doing limbo stunts, but isn't going to be following Sparkledog into his agility courses...
Though she's pretty average for a DJ she's hardly a slouch and can catch on quick to social cues
School was mid. eh, whatchugonnado? Passed, doesn't remember shit from some subjects but still knows how to research new ones
When Elkay shows up, you know it's going to be fun! Whether its a class or a party, or even a fire alarm lineup, she can handle herself in front of any crowd
She is remarkably average in appearance, though she does look healthy and fit, she prefers to have her show be the flashy pretty part
Very much the type that will take charge when needed, but loves seeing what others can do too
While it takes a good amount of boldness to get on a DJ stage and rock out, she's not going to be running into a burning building on the regular
Elkay's powers are actually markedly strong though she doesn't really 'show it' since her job is more geared toward crowd pleasing than crowd control
What she does do, is 'be amazing' with those powers as well as her chosen field of interest, been practicing since she was very young after all!

Drive
Orientation
Empathy

Elkay enjoys having a job and having a hobby that's also good for a job, enjoys getting that job done, and praise for it When you are supposed to show up for a party and bring the party to the party, there's gotta be more energy than a stuffy band leader Learning to 'read the room' very early on, Elkay is definitely a pro at understanding and accommodating moods and people's ability
Homeworld Twoarth, Skinside Sandy Eggo
Species Mutant Human
Post Instructor
Tenure

2010s for assisting, more recent for actual instruction

(from Many o Me Bio: a student at the school Sonith teaches at, only this is V2.0, I guess. The character used to be called Possessor, because she seemed to be consumed by the music listening to. Transforms sound into light, and I did a piece called “halftime show” with her in it. She is also known now as ‘Elkay E’ a dj ** in the Carramba Rally.)

Sonic Sense and Manipulation - with some kind of organ or added sensory ability (it is a mutation) Letha is able to detect extremely quiet sounds, not be deafened by loud ones (and actually works fine without headphones or ear plugs even in a jet-engine-testing environment). Can single out particular wavelengths, waveforms, and frequencies by concentrating if there is enough repetition. She can hear clearly over long distances but generally speaking her sensing is kept to under 250 meters. That said, that's still bigger than most stadium interiors... Her manipulation ability with sound itself is more exhausting than her use of light, but she can casually adjust tone and volume in a nearby area (under 20 meters in a sphere) and cause, enhance, or mitigate sounds within that sphere up to 120 db. Farther distances require concentration and effort so will wear her out if she really has to produce an orchestra-worth of music to fill an opera house - which she can do, but that's for a 10 minute event, not a whole night's entertaining.

Photon / Light Creation and Manipulation - appearing from around her 5th birthday and only getting stronger as she has grown, any sound she hears (and later imagines) gets a corresponding chunk of light that 'looks like it sounds'. She has discussed this with synaesthetics and physicists alike, and enjoys working with both engineers and artists to make renderings and imagery that are geared toward very specific audiences. From tiny strobing heartbeats in an ICU to entire grand-finale fireworks and storytelling in a stadium, Elkay does it all without even breaking a sweat. For the bigger events there still must be the presence of sound, fueling the dramatic and colorful images. But for small things any ambient sounds are more than enough. She does not need to 'hear' the sounds, any present ambience is still going to be detected by her mutant abilities.

Clusters

Musical and Performance Knowledge +6 She is a very good nightclub DJ, able to choose from a huge personal collection of music but also knows plenty more pieces that she might not own. When the right beat comes on, when a sting brings attention to the villain, the subtlety of a complex bassline and the sudden appearance of a voice from the void, all of these things make for a memorable performance. All related skills serve at this level, from setting up, sound checks, music selection, performance, lights, and public facing communication. She can direct attention to the right people, organize them into coherent groups, and get everyone on the same page before the conductor taps their baton

Business Acumen +2 though Elkay does most of her 'work' by being hired for temp gigs, she does make sure that she'll be getting paid and knows how to make sure everyone else does too. She has quite good sense in that regard, though she's never above just showing up to a slummy place and turning it into a rave... careful of the cops though...

Skills

Do AND Teach! +3 with her musical skills, she can also demonstrate specifics, do careful instruction for students that show promise, and make it enjoyable for the whole class. She recognizes the needs of different students, helping them exploit their natural abilities or shore up their weak points

Music Makes Everything Better +3 You need a piece for your ambient poetry reading? Do you know how to set up the seats for your orchestra and their standees? Elkay can help either with doing this herself, or organizing your team, or even just getting a bunch of random strangers to participate when that Bollywood event breezes through the mall. She'll pick up a beat from someone's earbuds, or notice the footfalls of people going in a pattern, and make the most of it

Color Theory +3 It's not just music, it's what that music looks like, what it can be imagined, how bright or dim or flickering it needs to be in order to not, you know, kill people who are epileptic... She's the one you want calibrating your monitor or big screen, and can sort folks with tshirts into some amazing groups in a stadium event...

Knacks

Knows All The Fun Places +3 Any venue, not just The Vent (a Wilson Carver-owned venture) is hers to check out, assess, prowl around, or make a review of. She tries to make sure everyone knows when there are negatives, and she's just charming enough that that criticism rarely makes people angry that 'they failed'. Whenever she does need to help fix up a venue, she needs to know the specs, the legal coverage, and all, but she does enjoy doing that too

Meets All The Fun People +3 It just happens she knows a guy who knows a gal that performs in the backup group for that act you love. Did you need their autograph? Oh wait you need someone to perform at your uncle's wedding? For sure, there's like sixteen people right in that area let's go see what their budgets are! In actuality other people seem to recognize her way more than she realizes, as her appearance is what she calls 'absolutely average' (and she's not wrong), but her presence and particularly her voice and motion, the colors around her, are all very distinctive and people tend to like her for that fact

Stonerrrrrr +/-3 depending on where and when she is found, Elkay can certainly enjoy her substances. Not to the point of abuse, she knows what to or not to use with other things, and will not get blackout drunk or so high she can't function. But it's very well known that she does have dealers and friends all over, who will definitely supply you if she tells them it's okay - and she knows when not to as well

(from 2014 CHS Road Rally scattered bits)
LK Eriksson, Elkay-E to the in-crowd. The only significant difference between the two women was that Zeets was visibly older, though perhaps only barely approaching mid-30s, where the light-musician had hardly scraped 20. Elkay also had considerably more energy, though perhaps that was because she was as thrilled as anyone to be near their other musician.

**

Elkay and Khyrus took those moments to stand up and wave at the people who'd come out of their homes or joined their kids on the lawn. A good number of the teenagers hanging out with their friends recognized them – but couldn't be heard screaming and squealing over the sound of the hovercraft's engines.

(Kyrus is waving to the crowd) “I swear your teeth are going to blind them,” Elkay laughed. “Not me this time, at least.”

The light artist had frequently been pulled over in her own car for having blinded other drivers. Completely unconsciously, she'd left a trail of accidents due to what the victims called “strobes, and wobbly bits, and explosions, and fireworks, and then that bass line started shaking the road!” Needless to say, Elkay didn't have a valid driver's license any more.

**

(regarding Khyrus) “Does he do anything and not look … like that ?” Morr'gan said in general, not expecting an answer.

“Like an adorable puppy with the eyebrows and pouty-lips?” Elkay suggested with a laugh, “no, he's always like that. He's got perfect teeth, perfect hair, those finely chiseled abs,” it sounded as though Elkay was quoting from some fan-club magazine or a sales brochure. “He's ridiculously hot. It's part of his charm.”

** (they arrive somewhere)
But Elkay was the one who appeared surprised to see the other entry. It wasn’t because she thought the vehicle was unworthy. “Wow, I… can’t even comprehend how that team made it this far without killing each other already,” she muttered. As they were removing some of their gear from the stow boxes, Una and Turquoise looked over at the vehicle.

It was a van, not unlike some that other teams were using. However it was a specifically kitted vehicle belonging to one of the Superheroic factions in Crescent. It was mostly a dark blue (seen through the still-bright floodlights in the parking area) that also covered the windows in a one-way-mirror screen, but along the sides and back it had sparkly white stars, splashes of bright yellow in lightning patterns, vivid purple in a sort of wobbly line, red and pink in mixed dotted arcs, and a sharply jagged lime green line. In other words, it was an obnoxiously painted ‘team’ van for that supergroup’s mobile activities.

Some of the members worked at Carramba, and by the looks of the roster (as Elkay flipped through her e-reader about them) a good number of the team were students or had just graduated from Carramba. Una glanced at the glowing tablet.

“Why would they all…”

“Because holy crap MOG.” Elkay rolled her eyes and expanded the page belonging to one Margaret Olivia Goddard, or as her heroic title said, ULTRA. “All caps, no exaggeration,” Elkay chuckled. “She literally shouts all the time, even when she’s teaching. It got kind of old.”

The colorful costume and oddly spiked hair-style were one thing, but Una did note the expression this ‘MOG’ had, on almost all the photos: angry. “She… doesn’t look like a pleasant person. And she’s a ‘hero’?”

“And don’t tell her otherwise,” Elkay said, somewhat quietly, “I mean, we shouldn’t be talking shit about her, let alone while we know she’s somewhere nearby.”

“It’s not just ‘resting bitchy face’?” Dane suggested, and once more he had to laugh as Rocky about shit a brick. “It’s a thing!”

** (one of ULTRA's team shows up)

The construct saw Elkay and looked to be about to jump over and give her a hug (how can a hologram give a hug, anyway?) but a slight cough from her companion stifled that greeting. “You made it to the dam,” Boreah said. Her voice was just as odd as her form, in that it seemed to emanate from somewhere in the middle of her ‘hitbox’. If she was a solid-light hologram, it stood to reason that her little hovering core had a speaker in it. She left dark red and gold traces in the air, a more streamlined aura than her brighter friend’s.

They had much in common, apparently, since Elkay’s aura, mostly subdued while they were getting used to the ride and each other that first day, also tended to linger in the air behind her. Obviously, Elkay knew the construct, more than likely from having attended classes with her. Boreah did lean in closer when her friend Naris had found the ice machine and was busy filling several bags for their rooms. “I’m jealous, you’ve got Khyrus on your team!”

“I know, right?” Elkay whispered back. Naris sloshed the bags she’d filled and tied their open ends, working out how to carry them, and slogged herself back toward the lobby and stairwell. They both straightened out and Boreah dutifully followed her team mate back to their room, and the hovercraft’s members were left to find their own way.

“Prolly want to take some ice too,” Dane said from the still-open front door, with his own; no one had seen him take any. Elkay and Turquoise both went to do just that, however, because why not.
