Barre's abilities seem to be a side effect of having been around the experiments run on numerous artifacts and talismans, metals, and energy particles. Volunteering as a test subject, it became clear that while he isn't magical in any way, the energies that the items gave off somehow activated latent mutations in his DNA. Whether these may have manifested later in his life, he gained access to their use and has been treated as a mutation-based subject ever since then. Analysis has shown that some of the effects present, however, are definitely not due to those mutations. Notably he can turn some effects off by concentrating on them, and others turn on at will. This makes it possible to draw blood in the same session as dropping a nuke on him...
*Near Invulnerability - This is definitely one of his native mutations, and was likely more than latent as he went through puberty. Offering him ridiculously strong resistances to injury and disease, he was never sick even when seasonal or dangerous illnesses were passing through his classmates. This doesn't mean he's entirely unable to be injured or affected; he eagerly goes through more and more testing just to see his limits, and has, on occasion, met those limits. It takes a staggering amount of locational damage (up to 48 Bonk in one hit) to scratch or dent him, and after drawing that blood of his, it's clear that he would make an ideal test bed for 'how to resist viruses and bacteria', since his white blood cells adapt to invasive structures with a vengeance. He knows that he will be the one to walk into danger, and faces this with a smile
Speedy Delivery - He can run at super-speeds and seems to be able to cling to surfaces while doing so, as he's able to run up walls, cliffs, bridge struts, and other such things easily. He can run on water but not change direction while doing so, and must be at full speed to achieve this effect. However on land he is capable of dodging vehicles and small objects alike while running, so he won't just crash through a place (he'd be fine, but the damage in his wake would be significant). He isn't quite fast enough to outright dodge raindrops, but he has been known to manipulate larger projectiles while they're incoming, and is able to move their direction without setting off explosive tips or shattering bullets. He can take items up to his own weight with him, provided they're either collected in a pack or holding on for dear life, he doesn't need a lot of wiggle room to balance or move his arms while his legs are at full speed so he can hold those items while also still zipping around corners and over obstacles
Energy Projection - Perhaps a side effect mixing his mutated speed with modified enchantments, Barre can create blasts of energetic particles, focused through his hands, or move them into coherent shapes such as an energy sword or shield. This takes concentration and effort, though it doesn't drain his energy significantly. He can project small blasts that do 2 Bonk each in rapid-fire succession, accurate up to about 200 meters though much more accurate at less than 50 meters. A single 8-Bonk hit snipe can hit a target properly at 250 meters, but he won't use this unless he knows that the target deserves what's coming to them - it may kill smaller people, not just knock them down it might blast a hole into them, like it blasts holes in weak walls and even thin metals... The 'sword' shape is his favorite thing though, because it can dazzle and impress so he doesn't need to threaten, nor hit living things with it if they know what's good for them. The shield can be shaped from a small buckler or gauntlet (which aids him if he needs to punch through heavier walls, as it does that kind of damage in a very small area) or up to a 5' high 'kite' shape, and even a small 10' diameter dome to shelter things or people from falling items, vaporizing many things on impact, but he has to be very careful about the inside of it, most people wind up unconscious from spare pelting of its energy |

Super Soldier Indeed +5 He might have been a superhero if he'd been a civilian, but his life has been spent either around or in the military and as such he's a soldier through and through. A good one, too, it's ... kind of sad that he's chosen to serve a guy that is openly villainous, but then Barre isn't all that up on the political side of things. He won't hurt civilians, has a code of honor in that regard, and prefers to knock out rather than kill enemies. But he knows military language and code, uniforms and regulations, how to navigate the military bureaucracy, and the basics of all the tactics and requirements of a typical member of any given faction. If given an order he will follow it, though he's also quite capable of handling the delegation of duties of those below him. Since he's not necessarily super-strong, he doesn't go around lifting tanks or punching through barriers, but the super invulnerability he has is definitely something that benefits such a soldier
Navigation +3 Any task that requires moving from point A to point B he is just all over it. He's able to read maps and assess areas at a glance, drive through a narrow area with a moped or a backhoe with equal ease, he knows the size of any given object and what it might be capable of doing in any particular space. This isn't limited to ground based maneuvering, but benefits him alone when he's plotting the way to run straight over a blockade or through a semi-ruined building. If he has visited an area and it hasn't changed, he can relate very specific directions to others, so they may eventually get through, and he's often sent into strange areas in order to collect data and the layout, without the risk of getting hurt |

Athleticism And Weaponry +4 Even without going at full speed, Barre's athletic talent is clear, and he can scale rock climbing walls or do parkour at normal speed, teaching kids how to navigate obstacles and get around unusual terrain even if they have limited movement skills. He'll hit a target with his powers, but also with anything else - a thrown bottle, knife, pellet gun, laser rifle, or artillery, it's all the same to him, but clearly it's up to whether the students can handle an item, whether he allows them to do so as well. Able to strip and clean and reassemble virtually any gun or piece of equipment, this is also in his classes, their use and safety are paramount. Putting all of those things together is up to others, what with that danger room restriction he's placed upon himself, though he can watch and direct from the booth just as easily as barking orders or offering instruction from a field tent
Code Of Honor +3 He knows the things that the General does can sometimes be seen as villainous, true. But his dedication and his drive are what keeps Barre from turning on the man, and there are kids all over the world who can benefit from the structure and restrictions found at their school. He likes to think that when given the opportunity, people will do the right thing, and expresses this to his students and his peers alike, though whether they take that advice is up to them. He will not raise his hand against an ally or civilian, and he can in fact tell the difference between a spy and a simple rando on the street. His sense of who is where and what they're up to are keenly developed, and when he knows there are enemies, he feels it's his duty to root them out
Quick Study +2 Even if he's not what anyone (including himself) would consider an intellectual, he's hardly a slouch and has never failed an exam. Though he does have weak points, he's not the greatest of chemists or up on Fur-Side history, he can jam with a book in hand and take clear notes. He can recall enough of this information, even highly technical jargon, long enough to relate it to others or to use it in practice. It will fade, he knows better than to think he could possibly read a text on how to do heart surgery and then go on to become a top cardiologist, but he could in fact perform a reasonable procedure with help (or be the helper) if he knew in advance what would be expected |

A Bit Touched In The Head -3 He does think clearly most of the time. But there are moments when he's been blasting at things or having taken quite a bit of concussive fire, that he just sort of blanks out, forgetting where he is, who is whom, and which side he's on. This usually does only happen under specific circumstances, but there's a reason he isn't allowed to work in the Danger Room while classes are in session, as this might endanger a lot more people than it already does. His 'code of honor' doesn't apply in this time, and he's been known to go into a very deep depression if he realizes he's hurt people while 'out of it' like that later on, so he himself has decided to not be in the DR while kids are there
Surprisingly Good Poet +3 With as much time as he's spent letting wierd experiments be done on him, while awake anyway, he's studied and read literature and poetry, lyrics, and the like. He isn't great with instruments (they ... tend to get destroyed if the experiment's going on) but he can sing and speak in a very clear tone. He's good with acting and recitals, though he doesn't really prefer to be on stage alone, and wants to foster the arts in addition to the heroics and bold behaviors of his students
Fashionable +3 You have to keep your gear and uniform looking perfect, know just the right posture to salute before a dignitary or pass a field inspection. But you can also do it in style, and he does! He also is able to mend and alter uniforms, surprisingly good with making on the fly adjustments to the kids uniforms and even their Drama class costuming |

His preferred weapon is an energy sword He is a little touched in the head and is an excellent poet. Your powers are near-invulnerability to physical damage, projecting illusions, and flight. You volunteered for a military experiment involving an exotic mineral. senshi3 MAMOUDOU BARRE
On one of General Serrano's many trips back and forth around Central and South America, he picked up a few strays from various local military systems. Ostensibly as part of a diplomatic or exploratory team, yet they somehow just... never go back to their original squads or units. This suited Mamoudou just fine, because during his teenage years he knew he was different and the ability of the local military was quite limited. Somehow selected out of a group of similar 15 year olds, Barre was inducted and directly assigned to Serrano's team. Whereupon that team was brought to exotic ruins, strange science labs, and testing sites in short order.
If Barre was ever afraid of the consequences of being hit by a literal ton of bricks, he has never shown it. He won't go out of his way to stand under a building that's being demolished - unless of course there are people still inside! He's not foolish, he won't bash down doors with his powers when opening them after knocking is an option. He is unfailingly polite to civilians and superior officers, though his arrogance does start showing if he has to discipline anyone, even students, though he won't berate those who can't do a task, he'll simply sign them off to an easier class or suggest they find tutoring. But adults? Oh, he will let them know just exactly where their failings are, he expects anyone his age (he's currently 27) to behave as though they know what they're doing with their lives.
He is usually somewhat cheery, and while there are definitely others of the 'hold my beer' persuasion around, he can and has outdone every single wild stunt that a bunch of drunken 18 year olds might try. When on the rare occasion he's lost his grip and done actual damage to people, that's when his darker side really can be seen. If under observation during this time, he will take 'just the right' amount of damage, usually to his head, and simply snap into a terrifying energy throwing madman. It's obvious that Serrano has attempted to harness this, but so far there's no clear trigger, and no clear 'undo' button for it - he just has to expend energy until he collapses and upon waking he's normal once more. Barre doesn't always remember events very clearly afterwards, but if he is presented with evidence that he killed or injured people, he often needs both therapy and observation to keep up with his very dark depression. As long as he can maintain a schedule of work, however, he can mitigate the depression himself, and it will subside over the course of about a week. His peers and companions know what to look for in his behaviors, he is usually pretty safe around anyone while recovering like this.
Barre is quite good with students who are both capable and confident in themselves. He isn't the best to give rousing speeches to bolster the weak-willed, it's his job to protect or rescue 'normal' citizens, not coddle them. If they're obviously the cause of whatever disaster is present, he will rescue first, and lay into them after they're safe. His soft point however is with the Drama class, he loves loves loves seeing the fruits of talent on the stage, and sponsors the class for performances at the local playhouses when they're ready. He will definitely coach those who want to learn how to perform more confidently, drilling them and rewarding them with cheers, rather than berating them when they're not getting a cue or remembering a full speech.
