Powers Shapeshifting - though she has a choice: land walking feet, or water born hands, Volley is able to move between her aquatic and land shapes at will, though she always must be hydrated and carries about a gallon of fresh water with her to classes. If needed, she does have access to a 'floating puddle' made by some engineering students, which gives her the ability to keep the hands, and not have to flop around helplessly on the floor. She is still much more at home in the water, hence the change of land/sea Bod/Feets scores conditionally. Note well that her default shape is the eel-maid. (Also note, her 'human looks' are imposed only on Twoarth, she's far more pony-like in appearance on Equestria.)
Defensive Adaptation - in times of stress, produces eel-like mucus around her body and uses it to slip away (and also to absolutely gross out anyone trying to get too close); embarrassingly this has happened when she's been caught by a surprise test or two...
Bounce - in shallow waters, tidal areas, and sand or pebble beaches, is able to spring into the air with extreme power, that beach ball should be a volleball after all! This only works when she's in or near water, though the olympic sized pool at CHS does qualify. She also takes far less damage from falling on water, sand, or near-water areas such as the pool's enclosure, though if she's not hydrated she takes normal damage.
Clusters Sports! +3 - Adept at virtually all sports, she prefers ball type sports, from Brockian Ultra Cricket to Beach Volleyball. She knows the rules, and also how to loophole them, but also is really good with coaching others and referee duties; this will likely form the basis for her profession later in life.
*Singing +3 - This is not singing, it's shrieking, and it has helped her become an announcer, she can emulate whistles and fog horns, and has a booming voice that is of use while on teams or in games *1 point auto
Skills Underwater Navigation +2 - obviously she is slippery as an eel under water, and can tell distances and judge depth with ease
Judge Team Mates +2 - not as in value judgements, but more for the sake of 'do they work well with others'
Knacks Get Away With Being Naked +2 - she's got either fur or scales covering herself at all times, no one even notices, plus she's never really 'cold', as she can tolerate the depths of the ocean

Volley comes from a world where magic is the norm, and where everyone deserves a chance to be everything that can be. She truly appreciates the efforts of the school system here at Carramba, because it seems they already knew how to try and get along without 'lessons'!

Always a good sport, Volley is highly competitive but not in a bitter way. She would never berate team members or opposing teams for their performance, though she does playfully taunt opponents. Never in a way that would hurt them, she's an exceptional judge of character, and knows when to stop being a pest. She will also absolutely step in when she sees any form of bullying going on, in a locker room, classroom, hall, or on the field.

She is best put in a leadership or coaching role on teams, because she thinks two steps ahead during games. But also because... well, she has hands only when she's in water. If she's in the big pool, watch out: her water polo and other underwater skills are the best in the school. They might even be the best in the league: even against other deep-water born breeds that attend other schools, Carramba's watersports team can hardly lose when she's participating. And since she's a Freshman, she's still got several years to keep them on top!

Volley's goals in life are strong: she wants to be able to coach her own teams, and give back to the locals however she can. She's unlikely to return home to Equestria, as she finds the challenge of working with Humans, Xenos, Angels, and Wizards far more rewarding. Also she's not sure she could find nuclear battery packs to support her land-born floaty pod there...

Her sonic powers are impressive, and she can communicate with undersea creatures easily already. She has a range under water that is able to communicate with dolphins or other intelligent mammals at up to 200 miles away! Obviously this ... proves a bit challenging too, above the sea, because that can shatter eardrums and cause a lot of damage to items that are fragile. So she has learned how to moderate her voice. Back home, she almost was named 'shouty', and did take a lot of ribbing for not being able to 'sing' like the other sea-born ponies in the pod. But here, she's struck gold, in that her piercing shriek serves as a referee's whistle, and can be directed exactly where it needs to be, so that people who might otherwise be out of range or too busy with their game to notice.

But she is an eel pony. Though her four-legged form is pretty standard and looks as shown, it is almost always 'dripping' a bit, and her hooves are scaled with what seems like soft sea-sponge material, so she squelches her way around the school. Eels have... a self-defense mechanism that allows them to create a layer of mucus around their body, and she's no exception. If she's put upon even her pony form can do this, though it will dry her out. She can create it under duress, so if she's really in fear for her life, or really surprised or shocked at something, it will just manifest itself and she slips under a desk, or down the hall... And then that mucus needs to be cleaned up, because it's remarkably slippery and kind of smelly. She's been embarrassed by it in the past, but has mostly mastered it here at Carramba.

Bouncing around the beach, or throwing herself high out of the water from a deep sprint, Volley is quite acrobatic in and near the water. Her favored sport of beach volleyball remains quite fun even when she's head-butting the ball with her pony-form. She can physically bounce very high in that form when she's on moist sand or even mud, and is not hindered in any way by moving water. Rip-tides are nothing to her, she's very strong in the water indeed. From a deep-water start, she can come out of the sea with such force that she reaches over 10 meters above it, which is the same height that most tall diving platforms reach over olympic pools! On land, she can bounce herself about 5 meters straight up, and when she's being energetic about it, around 7 meters high. So she often plays volleyball with the idea of getting really high up to bounce with as much force as she can muster. Landing from those big bounces is nothing to her, but she isn't the type that can just fall off a cliff in the middle of the wilderness and survive it. All of these abilities are keyed directly to the water she's born in.

A lot of the local folks, including the Physical Education staff at Carramba (and at Crescent City Community College, or C4) have it in their head to keep her on as an instructor, and she's very keen on listening to them. Doing what she loves, and being able to give back to the community? Heck yes!

Now there are ... dragonries looking for her? Really? Well, she's heard there is a place, Lantessama, which has some undersea dragons that seem to be a great match for her powers and her personality. Maybe a Nekrat will find her to be the right friend?

*** (from hatching)

The remaining blue hatchling, a gletsjer female by the name of Lindalu, took longer to make her choice. Like most gletsjers she was logical, determined and fierce. And after some thought she saw only one candidate that was right for her.

"Volley," she said to the Eel pony shifter who was sitting in the surf in her mermaid form, "I'd like to assist you in keeping your team on top for the coming years."

Volley nearly lost her humanoid shape, gleefully splashing into the water with the little hatchling, "this will be great! But we'll have to pace ourselves, start small..."

***

After the hatching, there was quite the celebration, as well as a lot of exchanging information. They'd been playing a lot of water sports before the hatching, and all of the participants felt like this ought to be a regular occurrance! While they were fiercely competitive on the field, that made them fast friends off of it. Each comparing notes about strategies or game plans, it felt easy to fit in with them all. Volley would miss them, that's for sure. Eventually this would lead to something amazing, but for now, it was a group of sports-lovers bidding each other farewell.

Using the same method she'd gotten to Lantessama, they left through a watery looking portal, back to Crescent City's bay. A decent number of people were there partying, so the emergence of this pair out of the waves was no surprise. But the dragon got quite a bit of attention, as well they should!

"You're growing up so fast," Volley said, "do you think you'll be ready for the tourney?
