Non-Human in Human Form - It is very, very obvious from any perspective of DNA testing through magical analysis that Harriet is absolutely not human. However, she 'passes' with a human appearance as well as 'temporary DNA'. Now, there are some professors at CHS that have similar components to their physical forms, and very specifically one interdimensional doppelganger of said professors that gave one look and a chuckle, and said "yeah she's probably one of ours". To the point, Harriet is part Displacerbeast, part Beholder, and likely some kind of 'thrope shifter thrown in, with several generations of human breeding along each of those lines. They all combine into a human-formed person with some incredibly weird things going on under the hood. That's all in addition to having magic power that is trained and ritualized ^Freebie +3 Magic Use Skill
Reality Shifting - character can transform into an appropriate being in addition to moving to another universe or dimension; this is controlled and one of her first blossomed powers; does not have to shapeshift but often winds up doing it anyway. Can pick and choose destinations and is 'aware' of the dimensions nearest by a few degrees of difference, but can also throw herself completely at random and return where she knows she's safe (CHS, maybe even Dragondeep, etc). This power is absolutely part of her Displacerbeast lineage. This ability is paired with or even mistaken for a Latent Teleportation, she can move from one spot to another by blipping out of existance and returning nearly instantly somewhere else, but it's more under control now, and is decidedly not latent by the time she's graduated CHS
Bookworm - if it's in the Library or on the 'net, you know exactly how to locate it. This is in no small way part of her very nerdy mother's lineage which includes that Beholder who somehow got busy with a human-ish shifter... ^Freebie +3 Research Skill.
Monster Out - transforms into a hideous creature up to ten times normal size at inopportune moments. These moments come along with her headaches, and if she feels it coming on, generally she'll move to a safe distance by teleporting, if possible. It was of much worse effect in early school days, because she'd sometimes set things off or get people stuck in hallways because she was so freaking large. Also people would panic at the sight... whoops. Note that the shape shown above is not her 'final scary form', since it has much longer tentacles, very sharp pointy bits, and at least 8 eyestalks...
The above does combine with an Animistic Power - the natural abilities of her lineage can be called upon for attack or defense, so sorting these powers out to make them of use in everyday life has been her long-term goal. She can now decide 'I will grow some tentacles because I need to reach that book on a shelf across the room', or 'I can read three books at once since I have enough pairs of eyes'. Her Monster Out power will always interfere if she's under greater stress, or if there's an actual danger nearby.
Ritual and Spellcasting Magic - since she is from a 'magic-centric' world regardless of what world that winds up having been, Harriet can learn spell based magic pretty easily. She concentrates on functional magic and useful spells, because she figures she's got other things to deal with and doesn't need much more than this already. Spells included below: - Feather-Light - to make something so light it's easy to carry, up to and including a school bus filled with kids, everything within a vehicle or lifted by an object like a rock or platform disconnected from something, will be treated as light weight, but if they leave the vehicle or object they will definitely fall as normal weight
- Size Shift - she can become really really small like a mouse or even a gnat, or up to a kaiju-creature, but may get stuck that way for a while at least until she got the hang of it. This is incorporated mostly when she monsters out, as she can still spellcast while in that form somehow. The spell lasts with concentration for the most part, but requires less the closer to her human size she is at the time. So she can get just a little smaller and pass as an Abodean elf for a while and be in that form for a full day without breaking it, or the size of a blue whale or a pingpong ball for about 30 minutes
- Communicate - there are times when she can't speak so much as shriek and moan, and needs to show that she's a friend not a foe. This is mostly in the form of body language (in as much as she has a 'body' in those instances) but also gives off an empathic bubble of 'hey we're chill' or 'just a habit sorry' |

Nexus Knowledge +3 She's been around it, on numerous occasions. At first just accidentally slipping into 'that one realm where I'm still on two feet', but then consciously to explore each and every possible nook and cranny. What makes one world different from another when it's not easily visible, how to test for possible routes in and out of it, and the like are all things she has a very strong grasp on
Biological Warfare +3 While not necessarily 'aggressive', she has visited plenty of places that would have put her on a gallows or endangered other people to get to her. To combat this, she's made sure that she knows exactly how many tentacles to throw at attackers, which ones need 'that one with the poison tip', or 'how big can I get in order to block this entire canyon pass'. Who's gonna mess with the business end of a terrifyingly large tentacle-bearing thing?
Rave! +2 How a girl as 'unassuming' and 'oh wait you're really wild' started working with a team of musically inclined dance-party going folks is anyone's guess, but she does still have a 'tactical dance advantage' because she inherently has more limbs than other people. Even if they're not visible at the time, she can still act as though she knows where 10 legs and several eyestalks are, and can groove with the best of them |

^Research +6 (3) Can grok how to find what you need to know for this project, easy! She might become known as a 'rules lawyer' in their game group, though, but definitely is their best game master! Harriet likes making maps and designing puzzles, but doesn't ever expect anyone to just breeze through them, and also doesn't expect them to have to research this much to have fun playing in them. She's a nice person, not a vindictive GM!
^Magic Use +3 This is a naturally occurring magic use, but she can also recognize magic script (though not necessarily read or write it), and knows where and when a spell has been used particularly on a location as a ward. She'll easily pick up on the right spells to study, and has become very good with a select few (above)
Understand Scale and Perspective +3 When you have become 14 feet high and have way more than 2 eyes, you've got a view that can hardly even be described to normal bipeds. She can use this to artistically recreate locations, or describe just exactly what is going on where, in one of those Bunkers and Badasses games...
Dancing Through Headaches +3 Something about the beat of a piece of music or a room filled with thumping thundering noise gives her headache something to think about and put itself in the corner. Now, realistically, these headaches are magically induced and stopped coming around the time she finished maturing, and into adulthood this has translated to 'being able to tolerate almost any distraction'. It's a very good skill to have when you're at a rave, or any complicated event! |

Hang With Any Group +5 Harriet can blend with most groups at a glance, be it the nerds in the afterschool RPG club or the colorful nutballs at raves, but also instructors and administrators as well as political rallies or beach bums. She's relaxed as can be or at least she tries to be, maybe because she's used to moving through different dimensions and has had to 'chill with every possible outcome'
Severe Munchies After Monstering Out +3/-2 This has become a fun complication for her to deal with, honestly, because she's also figured out where the best munchies can be had at any given time of day or night, including offworld or even other dimensions... She does however get hungry based on the absolute-value of the size of her change, so that aforementioned Abodean Elf sized critter might only need one or two of your french fries, while a full bore migraine-induced 10x terror will need a full beni-hana 6 course meal... |

They reside 'somewhere not here', if they even exist in the same dimension. It's possible that they're from the same dimension that Shortcut Along The Hidden Path is from, since he immediately identified her as 'one from there', so maybe he'll help her figure that out some day. He's definitely not a parent, but he is very much protective of the girl whenever he's visiting his other doppelkeenans. |
| Siblings? |
It is absolutely certain that she has relatives out there, whether they're 'nest mates', clutch siblings, other kittens or hatchlings, or just 'bro and sis' types. The ecology of any given realm where shapeshifting is possible, opens up the insane jar of worms, can of monkeys, or barrel of monkey-worms that would be likely in her lineage |
