Magic Students at Carramba High
Even though these kids belong in another universe, they're all American (or the equivalent) and can't get to Hogwarts or another of the 'famous' schools of Europe. And why bother? Because Carramba High has a full schedule of magic-based classes that will easily keep any wand busy.
Not everyone can get classes in the Magic studies building, but these four have at least a couple interesting courses there. However poor Josie... As a Squib she's tormented constantly by the inability to actually do magic. Her problematic poltergeist is doubtless to blame - but not even Trudy Shout (who teaches at House Domina in her spare time as well as here at Carramba) can get rid of it for her.
Lloyd, insanely strong and smart, is the leader of this little group of friends. How he got ahold of a Squib as a girlfriend is a story in itself... He's always doing something totally crazy and finding Josie is among them. Dragged along for the ride, essentially, are his... gender-insecure pals Gabe and Faith.
Lloyd usually assumes that Faith's a girl - but 'she' often wanders into the boys restroom even in restaurants, so no one really knows. What with hir veela-cored wand and all, shhee can surely make almost anyone wonder about hir. Hir typical companion, who apparently does know what gender, if any, Faith is, has trouble keeping himself in a masculine shape. If he sees even a spot of real blood (not tv/special effect blood) he suddenly finds himself in girl-shape!
Sometimes they try and explain away this situation away but since Gabe managed to put himself into not just Genetic Engineering but Veterinary Tech classes... He's going to be seeing a lot of the inside of the girl's room this year.
Given how many students and faculty at Carramba High have dragons to their name, this group was bound to attract attention from them. Invited to the Tripaldi Avian Frenzy - they're going to be seeing some rather different creatures than merely dragons. Gryphons, hipogryphs and other such winged creatures are all present at this massive hatching, and all four of the kids are looking forward to the hatching.
Josie especially - maybe she can ditch her poltergeist?
