The bright shining stars of Zora Domina's life, Lucien and Lucrezhia aren't actually her Sanger's offspring. Oh, don't worry. Lucas is okay with that. It was their real father who has some distress over this subject. See, even though they're students of his and he knows they're his - he doesn't go out and actually help create them for another fifteen years 'his time'. Zora has always been a slightly distracted mother, but a loving one none the less. Growing up in a new, unusual school for magic practicioners around the world certainly has helped shape the twins. With their own gifts in addition to simple magic spells, Lucien and Lucrezhia make an interesting team. Together they aid Zora and the other instructors - at first simply by being young gofers when magic was unable to locate items (or someone's too lazy to use a scrying spell), but later by helping assemble book lists and gathering supplies. Innately organized, no matter how distractable they might seem at first, both twins always have some scheme planning in their minds. Separately they are volitile. Together, they are dynamic. Lucien's favorite new class is Realtime Geometry - he claims that the Muggle world really understands the physical things. Lucrezhia's is Political Science, for never has she been able to just blurt out sensible answers to questions - and be right almost every time. Of course, there is a downside - Lucrezhia just doesn't get the lay of the Galaxy. Her grasp on things magical and human quite solid, but her understanding of how space could possibly be as big as it is without magical aid? No way. Lucien's trouble class is Fun with Physics - for the obvious reason that he can break every rule in the book and then some! *** Lucien is standing at Thaell Ayaath Lucrezhia is standing at Cormwood |
While Lucrezhia's stay at the small dragon tending community in Cormwood was fairly short, she came away from it proudly. The hatching was small but bustling - apparently in the last hatching there were some rather more odd candidates than the bunch this time. And this time? Well, there was a very fine mage boy who shared quite a lot in common with Lucrezhia. Enthest had experimented with spells and could do magic, just like she could! Eventually the few eggs on the warm patch of sand began to hatch. While the work on the big bleachers above them wasn't finished, everyone could get a relatively safe seat in them, to watch. But Lucrezhia wasn't concerned about those seats - she wasn't in them after all. She and Enthest and the other, N'kab, were down on the sand itself. Unfortunately the young queen of this clutch, a feisty red, wasn't going to let anyone near her eggs, even if they were hatching. Her mate angrily bellowed at her, apparently barking orders to her as the dragonets in their shells came out for air - and couldn't get much below her folded wing. While the dragons argued loudly over whether the offending wing would be raised or not, Lucrezhia got this terrible feeling in her gut. It wouldn't go away. It felt hard, hot, she could hardly breathe! In fact it wasn't her, it was the dragon below Gerah! Finally, when there was no other choice, and the big dragon wasn't as intimidating as the idea of her own offspring smothering below that leathery wing, Lucrezhia stepped forward bravely. It was just like challenging another team in Quidditch. The game was dangerous, hard, challenging. It was very scary too. Lucrezhia wasn't as good at it as her brother was. But though she was often afraid to dive after the quaffle, this day she would conquer another fear worth defeating. "Let her out!" Lucrezhia heard herself say, as she bolted across the sand. The big black wing was impossible for her to move, by just tugging on it as she was, but perhaps it was her gritted teeth and further, "let Claalih go! Let her go now!" The red queen took a curious look at the young teenager, more stunned than anything. A human dared approach her? How amazing! She was but a morsel to Gerah, but the bold move spoke volumes. She lifted her great wing and allowed Lucrezhia to pull out the smaller red female hatchling. "Look how beautiful she is! She looks just like you!" Lucrezhia said, panting and smiling. The little dragonet with wet furry hide still gasped for breath, now able to fight for her own fresh air. They sat upon the sand, and Gerah turned her head toward the human and her own offspring. "Yes, she is…” The dragon spoke. "Bu- But I was told you didn't know the human language!” Lucrezhia said. “I don't… But, I guess everyone forgot that all reds can speak telepathically… If they just want to. I'm proud my daughter ended up one… Would you mind moving away from her now?” Lucrezhia shook her head forcefully. “It's okay. It's normal procedure.” “She's not lying, girl. Just move now, will ‘ya…” Thatril demanded from her seat. Lucrezhia slowly rose and backed away from her bond. She calmly watched as the mother blew fire at her daughter, she had been told about it (to get the sticky stuff of the hatchling), too bad the on-lookers hadn't. Many screams were heard from above. The young girl then walked back to her bond and picked her up. Something was different. “She smells- … Like a flower garden.” They began to walk towards the feeding area. Lucrezhia noticed it immediately, that the now-dry red-bodied and black-winged female dragonet smelled lovely, with the deep wild sappy smell of flowers, delicate airs above that were almost like lilacs... All that, and Claalih was her dragon. The red hadn't spoken yet, really, but the mood of her little mind was satisfied with everything that had happened. Once the others had paired off, Lucrezhia overheard someone speaking to Fanny about something. It was unclear, but she thought she heard 'children's names' and 'abilities' ... But beyond that, it was unclear. Claalih strutted from one food bowl to the next until Lucrezhia realized she was having way more food than she ought! "Claalih! Stop that! Leave some for the others!" She laughed. They would return to Carramba High, for their training, but before then, Lucrezhia would find the way back to House Domina. *** "She's lovely," Zora announced to her daughter, with a bold smile. "She really is. And I'm sure she'll display some unusual abilities, with a name like that." Lucrezhia tilted her head and said, "mother, that's just what one of Fanny's friends was speaking about, I didn't hear or understand. What do you mean?" "It's an elfin thing," Zora said, "to name a child for their potential and abilities. It's nothing to worry about - after all, dragons come with some interesting abilities, don't they?" "Mine does, she smells so pretty!" Lucrezhia hadn't gotten over that. And how could she? Every step Claalih took was a step through rose petals. *** (adult story will come when Lucien bonds)

Lucien had a ton of fun in the squelchy, wet halls of Thaell Ayaath. It rained a few days but then shortly it started to dry up. Someone there announced that it was the start of their growth season, but they didn't call it Spring for some reason. Well, he thought, they were on another planet after all! A morning like no other started off simply enough, but then quickly - once the dragons began to announce that the candidates needed to be on the cavern sands - changed into the greatest day of Lucien's life. A group of other people came along, ones who Lucien didn't recognize from before. But, one of them bonded right off, to a tiny silver-white hatchling! Lucien was caught off guard - the hatchling was so cute! Two more folks bonded, though there was an extra hatchling in there too - a twin to the first. But then Lucien heard something and turned. The one egg left had wide cracks across its smooth pale surface, and the shell soon burst apart, scattering bits everywhere. A very tiny white appeared, flexing his wings and examining them thoroughly. He then walked calmly towards Lucien. D'you think they'd let you ride me for Quidditch instead of a broom? I think I'd like to play. I'd be awful good at it, you know. My tail would work way better than your bat for knocking Bludgers out of the way. And no one would be able to knock you off of me, but even if they did, I'd be able to fly after you and catch you. And if anyone even tried to hurt you, I could just flame them! Boy, that'd be fun! Can I, Lucien? Can I please? He thought about it... Maybe... Quidditch on dragons! Or, maybe a whole new sport? Though he was still in shock from having paired at all, Lucien's mind was quickly catching up.

Lucien met up with his sister again at Carramba High, glad to be back. He'd gotten used to the idea of having regular Muggle classes, and the dragon was quite interested in what all this stuff meant too. "I don't know, Lurir," Lucien laughed, "what about finding out whether we can do a Quidditch game with you, since we've got other dragons out there too?" That sounds like a great idea to me - I want to make sure that those silly players from the other team don't get in the way. We need to score! "I'm a beater, you know," Lucien grinned, "we are supposed to protect our players by hitting the bludgers away from our guys." I can do that too! The white suddenly jumped into the air, flapping furiously, and thwacked the nearest flying object! Unfortunately, that was one of the students, who was currently on his way to the PE field shaped like a bouncy ball! Well.... he made it there earlier than he expected, didn't he? Lurir'Inny gave a guilty start but soon was off on another tangent. It was impossible keeping up with this bundle of energy. |
