Quincy Hu - BIOLUME BOY! | |

Quincy, though born in the United States, is the son of two Korean parents. With a normal older brother, and a mutant younger sister, he is occasionally afflicted with 'middle child' syndrome. In addition to all that other crap that happens to people 'like him'. He doesn't think much of the way his older brother treats his sister - apparently he's too afraid of Quincy to really go off on him too. Very protective of Choon (she spells it Chun), Quincy has learned how to focus his powers into a fairly well balanced 'hero' for her. Quincy is a senior, and while his radiation production and electric blast are things he uses as a hero, he is far more intelligent than many and resents being shunted into a role because of his appearance. He has chitinous skin armor that began growing on him when he was around 12, but his extra eye was there from birth. His sister shares some of these features but won't be in school for years. Apparently, their parents worried that they would have another mutant, and stopped trying to round out their family for a number of years. |
Quincy has studied a lot of math and science, but his natural armor prevents him from actually using his hands very well in a lab. He's qualified as a research assistant, and hopes to someday simply enter the work force and contribute to the good of the world that way. He knows that's a long shot - he's an in-demand young hero. |

"We've got some ... special guests," said the principal, who doubled as a top-level government scientist in his spare time (or, doubled as the principal of this odd school, depending on which set of payroll stubs you read). "They've been sent here from across the country, actually, recommended to us by the kind folks at Carramba High school." Mutterings went around the assembly. There were students of a wide age range attending this facility, from whenever their powers surfaced or their appearances made it impossible for them to attend normal schools. The seniors were asked to be nearer the front this time, where they were usually shunted to the back because most of them were much bigger than the youngest. A pair of people, clearly mutants themselves, came out from the back stage. But they were so ... different. Both of them had feline looks to them, they were spotted like cheetahs, their tails had big white tips. Were they siblings? How did this happen? No one had really ever seen 'matching' mutants! "This is Omaciyu and Temih," the principal said, whispering below his breath, "did I get that right? They're visiting from a place called Planet Twenty, and they're here to discuss something... rather important." The cheetah male, Omaciyu by name, who had bowed when introduced, was very tall and slender, bore a turban covered head and looked quite simply 'exotic' in his cloak and pants. His female companion, Temih, was stockier and quite a bit darker in color. Right about the time Omaciyu was going to start talking into the microphone on stage, the murmuring started. Did he say 'planet' twenty? Where was that? Was this some kind of joke by the sci-fi club? Furries? Who dressed up like those any more? "Please, please," Oma said holding his hands up and instantly chilling the audience into silence. "We are indeed from another planet. But we are, more than that, from another... dimension. I'm sure you are familiar with the idea that there exist many different realities, some of which have different histories than your own?" He went with this, not giving anyone time to argue. It was the truth after all. Quincy wished that his sister were here already. She always had her head in the clouds, and this was right up her alley! "We've come here because young people stand the strongest chance of successfully bonding with certain ... creatures. We would like to introduce you to them, two of them, and see if any of you would be the most appropriate." "Sir?" Asked someone more bold - or more likely an empath who was able to beat Oma's powerful controls, "appropriate for what?" "Dragon riding," the female said, since Omaciyu was already halfway out the side door. The door led to a courtyard, in which was usually a couple kiosks or sign-up desks for on campus activities. This day however... Everything was cleared away exept... The two dragons. One was quite large, as in, the length of a city bus or more, with a head almost twice as high. His wingspan must be huge, Quincy found himself thinking. He was colored in shades of copper or brown, while the other was obviously of a different 'breed', dappled soft brown and yellow, with a green underbelly. She was much smaller, but still rather large - minivan size or so... Everyone pretty much froze. That was due in large part to Omaciyu's command over their emotions. He kept groups like this calm - that was his gift. His partner Temih (whether she was his lover or not, no one could guess - they were still stuck glued to the dragons anyway), said, "they will like it if you come to them in small groups, but don't be afraid. They will never hurt anyone." And people did it. Along with a number of the other Seniors and Juniors, underclassmen (and even probably a couple teachers and their aides), Quincy strode up to the big male and and looked him over. The texture on the dragon's skin was so similar - but softer - to his own. "You children," Temih said as her own dragon looked at the yellow and blue youth, "have been Searched. Our dragons believe that you have what it takes to ride or command, perhaps even fight, upon dragon back." "Dragons are not toys or pets," Oma added a moment later, "they are companions, lifemates. Mentally bonded from hatching to you, if you are the right one for the egg." The principal was smiling like an idiot. Over by the female dragon, the student Jet pointed this out to Sonith, who giggled. "I wonder what he gets out of this," she said. "Probably a huge raise, and some funky genetic material to experiment with, wooooooOOoohh!" he made silly noises. Quincy rolled his eyes, all three of them, and watched as the principal approached. The other students who were still hanging out by the dragons were gathered. "You'll be requested to come back here, to finish your training, if you do pair up with a dragon," he said. All told, there were about a dozen students among the population who had been singled out. More than a hundred others hadn't. Some would have complained, if Omaciyu hadn't simply asked them not to. Mentally of course... |

Quincy stood before the beautiful hatchlings, hoping... Hoping. At last, a fantastic minty green colored male approached. He'd made his choice - Quincy rethought that, he made his Choice.... and found that this kid with the weird skin and the third eye, was who he wanted to spend his life beside. With a surge of pride like he'd never felt before, Quincy could sense the emotions coming from the newly hatched dragon. "I know," Quincy said as though words had sprung into his mind, "I hope we can do good together, too." That would require time and training, and Quincy wondered just exactly how he was to get a dragon back to Paragon... |

Yatharani spread his wings, scratched his shoulder with one long horn, and gave a yeep of surprise when Quincy cleared his throat behind him. Embarrassed yellows and oranges blurted out from the dragon's mind, and if he'd been able to change color, he would have turned used-factory-wall-rust to match their current digs. "I know it's a little early for you to be up and about, Yatha," Quincy jibed while reaching for the ear fluff that his dragon companion loved getting scratched, "But we've got class today and you've got to be right on the ball." The dragon leaned into his Chosen's hand, giving off a distinct purr that it seemed only this particular dragon could. Then, they were off and about on campus. Quincy and his dragon were going to be required to do a routine in the air, involving a kind of strafe run, evasive moves, and whatever other flourishes they could manage in a two-minute period. Others with their dragons did fairly well, minus one mishap with a rooftop chimney... Yatharani's turn came up, and Quincy mounted up between his strong wings. "You ready?" Quincy asked, and in response the dragon crouched and lept into the air... Inspired: Quincy |

Quincy and Yatha eagerly accepted a new little friend from another world, a female draca from TrisHath. "You're gorgeous," Quincy said, and the draca purred back at him. "Thank you. You're like me, two colors too." She said. He was a little surprised that she spoke, but then he was used to listening to Yatha and his emotion-speak. "You're bright like the sun, but you've got darkness on you - Sunspot, is that a good name for you? You've even got gloves and a mask!" "Of course it is, and of course I do. I'm a hero like you," she said. She nestled in Yatha's furry neck, and they flew another circuit of the campus.
