Powers |
Transformation Sequence and Hypnotic-Mind Powers - Roxxy-Lynne's parents were very much enamored of the idea of their beautiful curly-haired girl winning beauty pageants and talent shows. Thus she has a very well-practiced strut across an area, be it a catwalk on the stage, or a catwalk above in the rafters. With a shake of her already-voluminous hair, her street clothes seem to tumble away or even reverse themselves into her performance gear as shown. She walks well in high heels, and can handle herself on uneven or grated surfaces, so even if she trips (which she seems to do almost on purpose?) she'll rise or spin or do an abrupt turn to make it look like she meant to do that (because she did). She enjoys the praise and cheers, and will do bows and curtseys to those who deserve it, or who have caught her eye.
Her powers are entirely innate, but her microphone and headset (hidden under her hair or disguised as earrings) aid her in her performances. Where they come from is anyone's guess, she might have hidden them in her hair. But they are throw-aways, she can still affect people who can hear or somehow sense the cadence or vibrations of her powers, because those are merely side-effects of her actual mutant power. The words and thumps definitely help accent them, though. With her chants, repeated under her breath for half an hour before any stage performance, or hastily recorded and played back to her headset so she can remember key points, she attracts attention to herself or throws it off to another, but can also single out individual people (not animals or non-biological entities) to focus control over.
-- Star Of The Show, normally she's absolutely the focal point of at least 5 people, up to 25 within a 20 meter distance of her. She is the dangling shiny keys, she's their purpose in life, she's everything to them for a 4 minute period while she's doing her act or show. At any time during that, they cannot be distracted away from her unless there is another power at work, they will follow where she leads, and she can 'hint' to them to perform acts that won't necessarily endanger them but might lead to some embarrassing moments later when they watch the videos of the 'sudden flash mob' - she's not a Bollywood performer like Vidura is, but she loves having backup on stage... This allows her to engage and entrance a group to lead them away from dangers, or coordinate them to do a large team effort without having to actually explain what to do (such as loading and moving sandbags in a flood, or assembling a large shelter or even a house - they did an old-fashioned house raising that one time!). When the time limit is up, they will still be doing that act, but they will have the conscious decision to allow them to stop if needed
-- Spotlight To Share, Roxxy-Lynne won't hesitate to give other people their due time on the runway, though this is not always a healthy thing: sometimes the competition isn't ready, often they need to be exposed for the fraud they are, but also plenty of times it's because she is 'done' and wants those others to have their fun and their chance to impress the audience or judges. Roxxy-Lynne is definitely a 'whim based' performer, so to have her share this attention or focus it on someone else is important. If the Kaiju is on the rampage and people are ignoring the guy on the loudspeaker telling them where to go, she'll throw that light right on him and a much larger group - up to 40 people - will attend to them instead of her. This version only lasts for about 90 seconds, but it's usually enough to get things rolling properly, or destroy a performance...
-- Showtime, Baby! A last-moment preparation chant, akin to the hup hup hup of a football team's huddle, Roxxy-Lynne brings everyone up to speed in a group-think tumble of instructions. As long as she knows the routine, they will also know their roles. The upshot of this ability is that when the team or any group go out to work or compete, the individuals in it all have a +2 for any timing or cued actions that they're supposed to perform, and overall the group's performance (be it a stage play, big routine, or a clever trap to contain the enemies) will be at +3
-- Stage Ninja, when you need to sneak around while other people are performing, change the set around, or fix a costume before it rips off of the singer, a mumble-muttered intonation protects her even if there is a massive loud concert going on. While it doesn't necessarily make her invisible the people at least nearby the stage won't care that someone is up there. And as long as she's not actively blocking the view or interrupting the performance with those actions, this lasts 'as long as needed'. Yes, she's crept up beside a villain and been utterly accepted by their minions because 'she belongs there', right up until she doesn't...
-- I Know You Are But What Am I? This mocking chant was one of her earliest developments and abilities. She doesn't necessarily use it much any more, but as a last resort to serve as a distraction or to really drive home a point to a particularly argumentative villain, she can spit whatever they've said right back at em, dealing a kind of mental bonk damage and a feedback loop will ensue as long as she's keeping it up. Insults, I'm rubber you're glue. Magic spellcasting? Works on you but not on her! After a while she will tire of these antics but usually by that time others will have developed some kind of offense and finish the job |

Showmanship Is In Her Blood +4 Her parents were both somewhat popular among the Las Vegas nightclub scene long before they met, and their experiences carry through in her very strongly. Where some primped-and-preened children grow up to hate the starlet life, Roxxy-Lynne is positively born to it, and thrives in it. That said she can be a bit overbearing if she's left in charge, so there's usually someone else to temper her command, and she appreciates that. She doesn't want to lose people to shame or embarrassment (at least, not unless they're her competition...) so when someone she trusts on the APEX team puts a hand on her shoulder to shake their head 'no', she'll back off
Knows All The Moves +4 Studying dance moves, catwalk presence, even airline exit-demonstration instructors, that's all paid off. Easily able to recognize not just the name of a dance move, but to execute it at least proficiently enough to get on stage with it, she can also invent and mix and match those moves in a pleasant if not exciting manner. She can help correct dancers by looking at their postures and actually showing them their posture, then moving the right way - aided with her mockery in a positive manner, she can fix little issues by chanting an encouraging I can do it so can you! |
Skills 18 |
Fancy Dress Tolerance +3 She prefers a fusion style of pants or leggings and added frilly stuff, rather than just the frilly stuff, that's for sure. She looks great in virtually any style, be it a full masculine-cut tux, or daisy dukes and a crop top. That said she does prefer more durable materials like leather, pleather, denim, and heavy cotton over polyester or silks; however she enjoys all forms of lace, spandex, colorful tye died shawls, or even silken veils for accessorizing. She definitely can sprint in heels, flip flops won't slow her down, and she's never really been known to trip on a crack and didn't want to break her mother's back so any hint of a wobble is because she's showing off
Hyena Laugh Because She's a Hyena +3 Raucous and raunchy, Roxxy-Lynne definitely lives up to the Las Vegas Showgirl hype when she's in the mood. She does go from 'do not touch, toothy bitch' to 'I want all the touches in the world'. This might fade over time, she is an 18 year old after all, and 'technically legal'... But it's unlikely that it would affect her performance on APEX or later if she retires from heroics and goes back to Vegas for more sparkles and dancing
Doesn't Want Your Man, She Wants Both Of You +3 Ready, willing, and able to seduce and enjoy any relationship, and has certainly gone out with guys, gals, gulls, goa'uld, and gillies equally. While she recognizes when her presence would be disruptive, sometimes she goes right ahead and disrupts - you didn't need that guy anyway he was bad news stick with me a while honey... She could potentially serve as a couples counselor but only if she's not actually going to get directly involved |

Turns Out She's Allergic To Makeup -3 That's fine, because she mutated into the eyeshadow. And no lie, it changes with her moods, be wary when it's red. As a real effect however this means that her parents were blistering her skin until they realized that her tears and running eyeliner were because she couldn't wear it. But that was mostly okay, really, since she did her level best even with those hindrances as a kid. But as a teenager she realized she could just say no to it, did so, and no one's known the difference... This means she isn't going to actually be good at applying makeup, which sometimes is important
Knows Where To Find People +5 Vegas is filled with wild, flashy folks - some of them are just passing through, but others belong in the mix even if it's just because of a weird skill they might have. And even here in Crescent City, perhaps even more so. She has an unerring ability to figure out where to buy a bullwhip, who to tap for a new neon sign, where the circus performers hang out, and how to join that pottery class someone down the street is offering. More than that, she almost always is able to get them to do whatever it is they're going to do, without an appointment!
Gets The Juicy Gossip First +4 If she's just listening in or happens to overhear things, she remembers those tidbits and might or might not drop them during a rap battle later. But also, people come to her with that gossip, knowing full well that it might break up a supposedly-happy couple or even mean everyone in math class has to retake the final because someone leaked the answers. She knows where to find folks, but also she knows how to deliver that information to those folks just as well |

One younger brother, quite a bit younger actually, but since her parents weren't exactly old when she was born (21 and 22 mom and pop) he'll be getting into CHS in about 3 years, it's possible he also has some form of mental mutation allowing for manipulation, who knows whether he'll be using that power for good or evil though... |
