Acantha fiddled with her hair, as she often did in her math class. It was by no means a difficult subject for her, she just always wanted to be somewhere else at that time of day. The sun was out, birds were singing, it was the best time to catch some rays and grow a bit. Whether she really needed sunlight to 'grow' was beside the point, she claimed often enough that it was photosynthesis and she was a plant god. So there.
But Miranda Varnhagen had other ideas, even this late in the school year, for the class. A pop quiz made everyone groan and mutter. Acantha jotted down the answers quickly, all the information she'd just learned in the last chapter of their accounting books covered it and she never quite understood why it was so darn hard for some kids to just remember their studies.
She had to chalk that up to them being mere mortals, and she being a god. Yes, she was pretty full of herself. However she was also quite beautiful, talented, and powerful!
