Name: Gadget Overbrook, "Ghoul Gadget"

Gender: Female, ace, aro

Age/DOB: ~160, born long before the current era and Ghoul-type dna allowed her to become a ghoul when she was around 20, she has not changed since

Origin: Vault Earth, born in the ruins of Plymouth MA to normal parents; current location is working with Wakefield Settlement and flying to and from the Gulper Island in Far Harbor

Family: though her parents are long dead, she has two ghoulified siblings, both younger, a brother and sister, who still live in the Glowing Sea's Children of Atom settlement, and she likes to surprise them with gifts found on her journeys around the area (when those gifts are flitter eggs, they're even more surprised!)

Other: As a Ghoul who looks (and is) mostly 'intact', she could potentially be tapped for DNA research by Melissa. She's not the only one in the area, and though Gadget herself doesn't really want children or a family, she understands the importance of it all, and has eagerly donated blood and cells to this end

Height: 5'4"

Weight: around 100, though not Icarus treated she is remarkably durable thanks to the Ghoulification, and though she seems petite she's still able to shrug off a lot more than a regular human

Hair: remarkably she still has a full head of brightly blond hair, done up in braids as shown, when it's down and unbraided it falls to her high back. Most Ghouls have lost their hair (and skin) but because she hasn't, she doesn't suffer as much outright prejudice against Ghouls as others

Eyes: Until she opens her eyes, which are quite scary looking... they had been a reasonably normal light green shade when she was not radioactive, but over time they've grown significantly more glowing, and the white sclera has turned black, with matching dark sockets and skin around them

Appearance: once upon a time, Gadget was a cute fair-skinned blond haired girl running around the wastes... and she still is pretty cute given she has no nose, no lips, and her skin has become leathery and mottled with the radiation and blistering common to Ghouls. Almost all her skin is still on her body, however, and according to anyone who meets her, that's a good thing. (Honestly, she is a lot like a green-eyed Melissa...) She wears more than as shown, typically if she's geared up for any sort of dangerous situation she'll wear Scout Armor, which is an incredible oddity here on the East coast of the USA, since most of the parts came from California. (Her armor is done up in greens and greys, repainted per her needs.) However on any normal courier duties or deliveries that aren't in dangerous territory, she will walk without shoes, or a care in the world. Her voice is slightly rough, but not tremendously affected by the Ghoulification. She does have a bit of a weird smell, very faintly of rotted meat, but the kind that you hand to your room mate to see if it's bad and then decide to eat it anyway..... Do not eat the Ghoul.

Icarus Processing: none, but the Ghoulification has made her effectively immortal. It's unclear whether a Ghoul could also then undergo Icarus or even the Plasmid mix, and yes of course Melissa and Rhea are itching to try it out somehow...
Genetic Abilities: Gadget is as almost all Ghouls, immortal as far as aging goes - she was a young adult when the 'affliction' took over, and she has not aged since then. This has not conferred any particular resistance to anything physical, but she can walk through radioactive sludge or get shot with radiation-based weaponry and take absolutely no damage. However she must get herself cleaned up after such encounters, because she does tend to remain radioactive for a bit after. With her eyes glowing and odd like that, it's possible that if she were to concentrate on it, she might be able to command Feral Ghouls, but she's not really the type to want to try that anyway. (It's very likely that this would become an active power, if the Icarus/Plasmid treatment could be applied - and it is also remarkably likely that this would be a primary power of any offspring that are produced using her DNA.)

SPECIAL
Strength: 3 - she isn't tremendously strong, she gets other people to do heavy lifting
Perception: 6 - generally she will see an ambush or a hidden item nearby, but she concentrates on refined looks at close up items and gear
Endurance: 7 - she can keep going for quite some miles before wanting to take a rest, even when running*
Charisma: 8 - she doesn't have the negativity that many Ghouls do, and people of all types like her, and will do business with her eagerly, and even with her skin and eyes she's pretty
Intelligence: 5 - while she does math in her head and understands the history of the world thanks to living through some of it, she uses it for trading, not personal education
Agility: 8 - this girl can get nearly anywhere, and get out, with ease and style
Luck: 8 - and the places she gets into are often packed to the gills with good stuff she can use to turn a hefty profit!

Skills or Profession: She is a trader and carrier of goods over the Commonwealth, mostly known to habit the Glowing Sea up to Goodneighbor for more than forty years. But with Levi's 'taming' of the Institute and the plans he has made uniting the Boston area once more, her job has become more widely performed by others. However she can negotiate prices and work with trade, dealing and making sure that those goods get where they're going with an expert eye - people in the 'business' look up to her, and she had added numerous smaller settlements to her route even before being tapped by Trinity for the Wakefield line. She is very good at appraisal, making contracts to go across the map and back, and though she claims she's 'not cheap' (she is not cheap) she's well worth the caps (she is worth it). She likes to explore a little here and there, and is good at map making or at least notations enough for others to come in and refine her work. Gadget has always been exceptionally gifted with cart and carriage work, animals behave when they're around her, and she has the touch that allows her to put nearly any item on an already overloaded brahmin's back, and still get it to get up and trundle to their destination. This does seem to carry over into her dragon riding skill, she knows just how to pack the harness and carry-cages when she's moving through the air. If she needs to escape from danger, she can do that with a quick, quiet run into a spot that is hidden. She does seem to remember the locations she's been with clarity, so if she knows of a good hiding spot, she can return to it without having to think twice. She is re-learning these spots while looking at them from the air, now.
Perks: Local Leader (allows for supply lines and trading bonuses); Marathoner (sprinting is considerably easier); Silent Running (obvs)
She knows how to use and refit simple armor, stealth armor, and the like, and is looking forward to playing with Power Armor but mostly to get it sold to the right folks. She's not above rooting around in ruins to find what look like precious family heirlooms and once-beloved items, to sell to equally sentimental people.
Gadget prefers the up close and personal melee attack style, since she can basically sneak up on people even with a brahmin trade caravan behind her, and whack them with a golf club - a 9 Iron is her preferred bashing implement, though she can use most hand held items expertly.

Personality: Meticulous, she is known for her detailed examinations of goods before deciding on a price or offer. She's like that with people as well, and is determined and unforgiving in both combat and negotiations. She is a reasonably happy woman, but she's more practical than sentimental, and will eagerly ditch old gear or items in favor of better ones. She isn't going to cheat folks of good items, she relies on her reputation too much for any bad blood - but even if she doesn't recognize someone in a trade she'll certainly get her money's worth out of it. Locals and regular customers know she's worth the caps, and she would stake her life on her claims of being the best Ghoul trader in the Commonwealth.

Events or History: Born in Plymouth Mass, her family was part of a small surviving village, surrounded on virtually all sides by dangers, but reasonably free from strife for the first ten years of her life. Raiders were frequent enough but with them dwindling, the settlement decided to expand. They did this over what they hadn't realized was a local toxic dump - it was hard to tell what with the 3 decades of existing fallout and all - and numerous members of that small settlement died as a result, and then her own family started changing. Gadget, her siblings, and three cousins their age all began shifting into Ghouls, which was both traumatic and surprising. But their parents remained essentially human, and continued to care for the smaller and now-ruined village until their deaths a decade or so later. That village doesn't exist any longer, as everyone packed up and moved a little westward, toward the Glowing Sea. With the weird religion and group calling themselves the Children of Atom gathering there, they figured it would be better to live with than against them, even though obviously none of the Overbrook family give a rat's ass about the worship. At first in order to just get away from the weird people for a time, Gadget came back with goods she'd scavenged from the surroundings, and thus started her career as a courier and trader. As people began moving back into settlements and grouping up, and particularly in the Boston area proper, she plotted out routes and made her way north. Over the years, she narrowed her wandering down to about half a dozen regular spots, and another score or so that she kept a glowing, green eye on as they either grew into better places to work with, or overrun by raider gangs and thus to be avoided.

When Levi came along, however, things got much better for everyone. She was among those tapped by him to make arrangements with the Ghouls down in the Glowing Sea and other areas to help clean up the radioactive areas of the Commonwealth, and thanks to her expert ability to set things up with folks, now there are trade stands run by those same Ghouls in safe zones all across the Commonwealth. She doesn't 'run' them, but she is often asked to evaluate new routes. As things got safer more recently, also, other people have come into her life. With the Institute now putting effort into being 'the good guys', and with the Brotherhood on the run (though far from 'defeated'), Gadget has aided in transporting people up to the Acadia Synth Refuge, since she learned of it, and now... Well, now there are dragons.

Trinity and Dejanira have made sure that everyone gets an equal shot at life in their weird, special Vault up in the Wakefield area. While this spot is nearly as far north-east from Goodneighbor and Diamond City as the Glowing Sea is south-west, stretching her on-foot travels considerably, Gadget took up the mantle of their trade management eagerly. She works with others when going to and from the Wakefield Vault now, having an assistant for the goods, and two guards - all eventually on dragonback...

Dragonback?! On this world, yes! As was explained to her later on, after a brief probationary period (that she fully understands, given the subject) to make sure she was trustworthy and able to do what was needed, Gadget was told 'hey by the way there are also dragons coming to this spot and you might be able to bond to one and ride it'. To be honest, she took one look at the brahmin stacked with too much stuff to carry, and asked "are they big enough to put a caravan on?" And when the answer was 'yes obviously they're dragons' she jumped at the chance to do that.

She went to a place with one of the hottest of the Wakefield Vaulters, Dan Torrence the old Nuka World 'Pack' animal handler. They were both sent to Dragonhope Weyr, though she knows that Dan headed to a hatching that happened nine full years before her own dragon was hatched! They left the place together, and came back together, but neither saw the other anywhere near for the entire time they were learning how to care for and ride their dragons.

She actually felt most comfortable with the riders of the dragons whose eggs were on the sands just then: traders, caravan workers? She knew how to deal with that, for sure. This cold-as-hell place though, oh boy she ached for the rainy and more temperate weather in the Commonwealth the whole time she was waiting for the eggs to harden and hatch. But both she and Dan did very well with their training, they both knew animals and harnesses, tactics came easily to both too. But neither of them would be combat riders, so they learned only enough to keep the dragons safe and sound, healthy, and well mannered.

(continued below!)

Dragon

Name: Aponyath
Gender: Female
Size/Shoulder/Length: small 7'2" s particularly small for this clutch's potential size
Colors: Green, heavily metallic spotty markings, very shiny; wingsails minty green; claws light; eyes change
Features: standard Pernese with spaded tail and neck ridge
Powers: Winged Flight, Aponyath is a very strong flier, and likes to survey from above before deciding where to land; she can carry a lot on her small back, or more accurately in packs around her chest and neck
Teleportation (strong for multi-dimension)
Telepathy, though she rarely speaks with other people, she and Gadget discuss things quite frequently; she is normally somewhat sedate among other dragons, but will put in a word or two when needed
Telekinesis? It's possible that she is a good flier with heavy gear because she has a more potent form of the normally-latent telekinetics found among Pernese dragons, it's not typical here
Parentage: Bronze-Speckled Gold Memelinath (Myu from Shintaru) + Bronze Jiioth (Ei'osh from Blacksheep)
Origin: Dragonhope Weyr year 10 (version 3)
Other Info: if she isn't the most colorful dragon here, it's highly likely that her offspring will be. She's fertile thanks to not having access to 'firestone', a feature which some who've studied these dragons seems to suggest that firestone doesn't really render them sterile, just uninterested...

Gadget knew that people were staring at her weird looks, but she was far from the oddest person at the hatching. They had every reason to stare at all the beautiful hatchlings, though! Oh goodness they were so pretty! Normally Gadget wasn't one to oogle people or things - but wow these were shiny, dazzling dragons! To go to their equally dazzling riders! And one of the brightest greens came right up to Gadget. Her name was Aponyath, and though 'well mannered' was about as far from this dragonet as could be, she would learn too, how to wear a harness, how to lift her feet and wings in the proper order, and how to remain clean. The hatchling did little more than eat and sleep for a while, but this time was vital, as Gadget and the others learned how their little minds worked within their own. Urges couldn't be acted upon until they were the right urges. Learning what was safe to eat, safe to attack, those things had to come as nature, not even second nature, to the dragons that would fight. Aponyath would learn friend from foe once they got back to their new home in the Commonwealth.

Flight was very high on her mind, as Aponyath grew. She was among the first into the air, though also the first to faceplant after not quite getting it right... But she tried again and again, sometimes even in her sleep, her feet and wings would grasp at the air. Though she would be a 'green sized green', Aponyath already showed signs of being sturdy and smarter than typical, like her dam.

And with their training to teleport behind them... that was an experience, wasn't it? Aponyath and Gadget were ready to return home to Wakefield, where there was an extensive den set up underground. It was hard to imagine a dragon, let alone dozens of them, residing anywhere near a place this small? Particularly compared to Dragonhope Weyr, since it sprawled through not one but two mountain peaks and over a large, mostly frozen bay. But here it was, and there was the strangest sense when Gadget moved through the tunnel to reach that big open area below. It wasn't in the same world, at all - and something about it keyed her in on this. Maybe it was the smell, maybe it was just the air and pressure? Or perhaps... The huge open sky and brilliant orange-violet-green nebula that could be seen everywhere around this Xenian rock they all gathered at.

Of course, the first thing Gadget thought was... were there people on those distant floating islands, and could they be reached with a few flaps of Aponyath's wide wings?
