Locations: Carver Snow House, The Vent Nightclub

Because he was a well paid assassin and spy, generally working for David Hoyle as well as Lane his Prime, Wilson Carver amassed his own fortunes in his own way. Truth be told he was faintly annoyed that he had never even been invited to the Mansion, but it was largely because by that time in their lives, Lane had all but forgotten about the massive location in Iowa, and actually only used it perhaps twice in the entire time before the Events, after Wilson's unveiling in 1991. When they did get around to remembering it was a thing that existed, and beginning the process of upgrading it after the Combine were defeated, Wilson had already gotten his own place squared away up in Spangeried Norway, and kept using it both Vortally and Physically.

Truth be told, the home is both wonderfully well done, and entirely not his. After working for a client, that client refused to pay for Wilson's services... and paid eventually with his life. But not before turning over the home's deeds and paperwork to Wilson. Thus this lovely spot along a bay and snowy hillside fjord in the frozen north, became the inspiration for his Vortal location as well. Mostly because have you seen how cold it is? When it snows? Wilson is fond of snow: outside, as seen through a nice thick double-paned window, beside a fireplace, with a mug of hot buttered rum in his hands.

Generally speaking, only Wilson and a select few people actually reside in his Nordic home. Melissa is always welcome, Lane and Pax have both stayed in the guest suite at times, Mars is able to reach it herself without being invited and she helps herself to his booze too (something Keenan and Wilson grumble about, that woman must have a Vortal liver). Obviously when he and Mars, Mel, or even Aurora have kids, those children are welcome in it and tend to learn the finer points of 'don't break that', and 'if you want more soup it's in the kitchen you have legs'.

The location is always on worlds where Armacham also exists, as Wilson himself is a product of dimensions where that company works with (or against, eventually) Lane. It's in question whether it could possibly exist outside of this, but no one really bothers looking.

Around RY 3, as the Borealis begins being chipped out of its glacial tomb, Wilson hooks up with a few others of Convocation-level matter manipulation, and manifests his Vortal home where it 'was' but with a few bonus buildings taken from the actual Rookery world and altered to suit their needs. The small neighborhood and fishing village is well protected by dragons and fierce folk alike.

Wilson Carver's Nordic Bungalow

The images for the inspiration of this place are from a locatoin called the Split View Mountain Lodge, built by Reiulf Ramstade architectural firm. They are flat out gorgeous, wouldn't you say? Also used are images from City of Heroes, Black Mesa mod, and the Sims. The variation between them may be due to Vortal updates or just that Wilson wanted to make an exterior to that Vortal home once in Paragon.

Below, this is kind of a fancy fictional image, because well, Xen isn't where this home is built. But it is visible, at least when Keenan sneaks in to alter the view from the windows a little...

The home is usually surrounded by snowy rocks and trees, though depending on the weather it might look radically different (as above: there is a little more room between the home and the nearest forest or the bay). There is a naturally occurring hot spring right there though, "naturally" being a bit of a stretch.

Below, the typical layout of the home is shown. The interior is largely warm blonde woods and white stonework, with some darker wood paneling and bricks around fireplaces or creating steps. All the windows are of course double-paned for warmth, but also look quite stylish. Parties are in fact hosted on that central second floor landing, well stocked with food Wilson has made himself. The furnishings are usually white leather and chrome or wooden.

Below is what can only be described as a 'temporary' spot, but still based loosely on his normal home.

The interior of the home is usually brightly lit and quite pleasant. While he can 'dim' the lights to produce a much cozier and darker atmosphere, usually there is an overriding brightness to the place with Vortal illumination. Anyone with Vortal senses would easily be overwhelmed briefly by this lighting and by the presence of it existing at all - this obviously does not occur in the real home.

The way that Wilson cooks, he does like to host small get-togethers (or... very large ones, really depending on where he gets to set up). So the kitchen in his home is a place he spends quite a bit of time in. In fact, the kitchen is where he spends a lot of his time in anyone's home. Particularly Keenan's, definitely in Paragon, because with a mansion and several kitchens to choose from, and people there to feed, why not?

Of note: Wilson is unafraid to try new things in his kitchens, and takes requests. He's been very generous to help feed refugees from Galaxy City as well as the Rookery's surroundings. While in his Vortal home, the food is actually Vortally created by him. Even Keenan doesn't know how to do that. And Paxton doesn't care enough to do it, though his realm within Melissa's mind is fully alive with plants and perhaps even animals. Wilson chooses his ingredients carefully, knows what goes into a recipe first and then ... opens a cabinet and there it is: ingredients that may not have been there a moment before, or for anyone else opening that same door.

The Vent Nightclub

When it became clear that Wilson really likes being a superhero, he put down stakes in Paragon City. In reference to his friends at Black Mesa and the Enrichment Center, when he opened his nightclub, he named it The Vent - not just because it's a place that you can in fact vent frustrations and let loose to dance your cares away, but also because of all the vent-crawling his buddies do. Also, 'E-vents' are held there. Get it? Get it?!

Fairly, it's hosted its share of weird happenings. From local alien invasions (... yes, that's a thing - their aliens aren't Combine!) to memorials honoring the fallen heroes and family members of Paragon, to full fledged fashion shows (and yes, Wilson hosted those with gusto - he's also a great tailor! what could you expect?!), The Vent is known for its unusual decorations, private booths that have apparently got doorways into other dimensions, and good food and drinks. That hand serves as the DJ booth, by the way.

Since its opening and successful progress there, Wilson believes that it would make a good addition to numerous other dimensions, not the least of which is Carramba's 'Twoarth', so two semi-connected dimensions share the original club. It's accessed through a basic 'warehouse' entry, since it is actually created within an old warehouse in the first place.

The Vent has a split level upstairs area, where more relaxed groups can have a nice drink and maybe play a game of darts, above the louder floor below. Notably, while the club is 'all ages', there is no good place for very young kids unless the club has been rented out for the purpose of a party or gathering. IDs are taken at the door as well as at the bar, or tables when wait staff are gathering orders. The Paragon City version of those wait staff have a list of 'Do Not Serve' customers, but thankfully the Carramba side have yet to produce a blacklist of their own. The club also has a very strict 'no fights' policy, though he knows perfectly well that the Mad Gods of Paragon can and have started shit just to prove they can.

It features a wide variety of foods, sometimes local and others quite imported. He also runs a catering service through The Vent, but usually only takes jobs for Paragon heroes, or Carramba's field events. There is a full kitchen and storage area not shown behind the bar. It's highly likely that it links to a private pocket dimension, because there's no door, just sliding service windows and slots where orders are placed.

It also has a nice hot tub, and Wilson enjoys relaxing there when things are calm. While the club is certainly willing to entertain some amount of playful activity, any water fights or ... personal entertainment must be kept out. So don't make out in the hot tub. There's a room for that. Go pay for it.
