A cheerful woman comes to greet you in the marble entryway of the gigantic House Domina. "Welcome to my House," she says, "I am Zora, the headmistress and leader of House Domina. We are a school of magic unlike any that most people see. Even mages." She winks. "If you wish, you may tour the grounds, or check out our student roster. You may find a place to stay, if you're talented enough. There are usually enough empty rooms in this grand old castle, so make yourself at home." "Oh," she adds, turning and a small cascade of fluttering lights - probably tame willowisps - scoot around her. "Please don't take anything you find here. It's very unkind to the students, as they are the ones who earned their pets, pictures and awards." |

Once upon a time, House Domina was established 'somewhere in the United Kingdom' but at some indistinct point in there, they've moved not only away from one dimension of magic and mundanity, but to an entirely different part of the world. Twoarth is the world, but sometimes it seems like several other dimensions might be competing for the school's attention. There are mages and aliens and superheroes and gods, in this place. Zora knew about them for a while, of course, she'd even taught at CHS long enough to know that there was a small town up in the hills not too far from it called Wonder - a magic place, but it already had its own set of schools for learning this trade. So Zora and her now-graduated first group of loyal students, and her pack of unusually talented professors of course, decided to find a new spot on the coast to settle. Much closer to the actual ocean, this time the Pacific, rather than the Atlantic... "Somewhere up in the norcal woodland", was what they told the Wonder's Wonders dean. WW was a semi-traditional 'teaching magic to the kids with talent, teaching mundane skills to those who didn't have it'. Unheard of in the prior 'verse. But now they have a new location, a much larger and sprawling complex - still composed of the castle that they'd taken up in when they left That Other Place, the whole thing moved with them. Apparently this wasn't out of the question for anyone with dragons. And most of the professors, and almost half the student body, were paired up with dragons of some sort by this time! Thus now, with the inherently classist realm behind them, House Domina gets to participate in local sports with the other high schools, shop at the same malls as everyone else, and not have to fend off some stuffy ass 'ministry' people - after all, dragons are important members of this new world's society! New, for sure, but still important enough that now there are entire industries dedicated to them. Magic flows markedly well here, so hardly anyone's ever even noticed a difference in the school's contents. Now, hopefully, everyone will slowly forget the weird nightmare they used to live in. -- Yes, that means that the author is scrubbing pages clean from That Bitch's works. Some might not be completely free from references, but these pages were mostly written 2 decades ago in the heyday. |
