Skills and Occupation: a wonder with plants, able to identify and deal with most small flowering plants, herbs, fungi, lichen, and small shrubs; she can and does collect larger tree samples but her shop cannot support a full sized tree; as below she is very good with specific herbs useful for magic; highly literate, with very good biology and agriculture background, and also quite good with business oriented maths Residence: Serkonos / Karnaca, resides in a small apartment above an equally small shop in the East Cyria Gardens district due east of the Royal Conservatory, but not within easy view of it due to the hills/trees (see image!) Notable Possessions: a shop, which is more than most people could dream about! Treetop Herbs and Gardening Supplies, a lengthy name but worth the bother. |

Magical Preferences or Abilities: not marked, however she does provide some amount of herbs or plants which could easily be used by witches or potion-makers; she is extremely adept at distinguishing herbs or plants that have magical properties, but doesn't use them herself to make those weird pastes or potions - she leaves that to the witches | |||
Personality: Patient, quiet, hums while she works, attentive to customers but can be curt and abrupt if there is a disruption of her business, and she will not hesitate to toss out a visitor if they seem like they're going to be trouble; otherwise very private, and probably secretly wishes she could perform spells Likes and Dislikes: loves plants of all kinds, even ones which prove dangerous; likes colors and patterns, and matching them in flowers to their owners or a location; dislikes rudeness and loud noises; hates ... well, she claims she does not ‘hate' the Abbey, but she does not believe they're doing anyone any good Fears or Interruptions: fears being shut down by the Abbey as some amount of magical work might get traced back to her shop, and certainly there have been witches that visit for more unusual flowers, plants, or extracts |

History: parents managed to buy themselves out of the silver mines, and establish a home in the area to the south of the main mine entrances. She has never expressed interest in the mines of course, but that's mostly because the ‘dreary colors' and lack of healthy air would harm her much more favored plants. Yamina was born after her parents got out of the mines, and so she has never really been at risk of contracting the lung disease that claimed her father's life when she was in her early 20s. Yamina had always been good at keeping plants alive, and worked for a while at the Conservatory tending their exotic plants, and learning as much as she could about them from the vast library collection. She still enjoys visiting the location (provided it is intact / not closed due to... a bug infestation was it? hm...) and would like to have more formal relations with the Conservatory as a supplier*. Some of her shop's flowers and plants were imported from Pandyssia, and she carefully cultivates those away from prying eyes. They are dangerous, but not deadly. (The deadly ones don't usually make it intact from ships... because they kill off sailors who touch them.) Though far from rich, Yamina is comfortably wealthy thanks to the needs of the local population for decoration and personal house plants. She has crossed the Abbey more than once but always manages to avoid any direct heresy. It would strongly depend on whether the witch or unsavory sort has a good relation with her, though she doesn't think turning witches in to the Abbey is okay in any way. Some of those witches are making health salves and keeping silver miners from dying from their black lungs, but if one starts stirring up the Overseers, she will shutter the store's doors and wait until it blows over, she does not want to be tried and killed for heresy she didn't commit herself. * This does happen after 1853, when Morgan Valena comes into control of the Conservatory. |
