History: It was an unusually stormy season, around the Grotto. The weather was mostly 'rainy with bold sunlight between the clouds' for the most part. Though it had been a very cold winter, the northern waters growing extremely hard to navigate with chunks of ice drifting by, with Spring came a vast array of cloud formations and wild weather. Whether that was how this dragon made it into the ocean nearby, no one knew, but it was very obviously not 'from' Dragondeep. "It's a good thing we found you first," Colart said, helping to move the small and struggling dragonet onto shore. He and two others in a rowboat made sure that the bold yellow colored dragon got a once-over by the medics, and it was declared that they were fine, just a bit lost. The ship captain's crew had several different types of sea dragons swimming about, and these took an instant liking to the little one. It had been quite small, but bright, unusual in this area of the ocean. So it was that Aroul set about meeting everyone that would come see him in the shallow sandy bay north of Zeleran's dock. Since the area was smoother and easy to reach by foot from the higher parts of the grotto beyond, and could be kept safer by the mages and psionics on the island, everyone pitched in to make sure there were eyes on him and looking out for dangers. He was after all hardly the size of Zeleran's arm, on arrival! Some of the dragons that could move between worlds went looking for his origin point, and found it in the form of Lantessama Island. There they gathered information, and came home with instructions and recommendations. Though Aroul remained in the water, he played in the bay's shallows for a good while, until he was big and strong enough to start swimming on his own. Other dragons would escort him through the tunnels and grotto passageways, and since he could effectively remain underwater indefinitely, eventually they knew he would 'grow into' that portion of the island itself. They did learn that this dragon's coral-like tail and neck decorations were somewhat fragile, though parts that had been broken in that one incident with a more eager sea-dragon still grew back somewhat quickly. Some day he would become part of the island, everyone would know it was 'him' by that distinct bright yellow coloration! But until then, everyone would enjoy this colorful coral-decorated dragon. |

** Not too much after the youthful yellow dragon began making regular trips around the Grotto, he was joined by another surprisingly colorful sea dragon. Perui was her name, apparently, given it was one of the few things that Aroul could tell by listening to her mind. Together they would swim this way and that, a blur of yellow and violet, sometimes chasing after the quick silvery biter-fish in the area, and others darting under the Grotto away from the prying eyes of the local dragons that occasionally wandered just a little too close for comfort. It wouldn't do to have any of them come up from the depths, after all. For that reason they did decide that when the time came for Aroul to slow down and be more or less 'the cave to live in', huge as he would be, Perui would be his protector! But that time would be distant, for now the broadback sicletail with her fancy spots, and the golden coral dragon seem to make a great team keeping the Grotto's reef healthy. |
