Bonding at Caer Paniya

Felix Amber Rose

Status: Lord, House Born child, of the Thornbloom Amber Rose family
Age: 19
Gender: male, pansexual
Siblings: 4 (3 brothers, 1 sister)
Born: last, as he was both highly unlikely to inherit much land or wealth, and doted upon by his mother and aunties, Felix actually is better educated and skilled in ways that his older siblings didn't get the opportunity to learn
Legitimacy: a pleasant surprise to their happily married parents, though they were growing older and his father ready to retire, Felix's birth rekindled an interest in many non-business activities such as sparring and hunting, somewhat to the annoyance of his eldest brother whose own takeover of the main business was delayed a bit
Childhood Health: very sturdy, he could wrestle with the hunting dogs and much larger boys equally well
Adult Height: quite tall, unusually so, only his mother's brother can look him in the eye, he's over 6'6
Adult Build: well muscled, not burly, but he's also tall so that weight is distributed well
Skin Tone: lightly tanned, tends to burn and peel in the sun
Hair Color: platinum blond
Hair Style: very straight, usually kept in a tail with fashionable fringe and a leather bow
Hair Length: lower back
Eye Color: dark brown, narrowed in thought and often seen to be judgmental looking, but he's usually just squinting because his distance vision is garbage
Literacy Level: are able to read and write fairly well, enjoys histories and tall tales alike, and is interested in Aagneya's family history so he can document it
Politeness Level: they're occasionally polite, but often slip up; this is evident in his rebellion against being chosen to marry one of Thornbloom's granddaughters - he's already got a partner thanks
Focus: they are able to focus easily on the tasks at hand, though he spent a time with his nose in books as a kid, he works well with his hands as well as in social circles, and can dole out his time very well
This character is pretty good looking, the Amber Rose family is known for their brightly blond hair and dramatic chisled features, and as such he's definitely a catch; he likes to dress according to his status, but as a dragon rider he is also able to put his skirr-riding gear into use
Given a gift, they will show but not share; this changed in his early teens as he met Aagneya and her family, and interacting with her has taught him vaulable lessons in sharing and generosity. He made one mistake, snubbing a gift that one of them had offered, and she sternly lectured him about how rude that was. He's now able to graciously turn down things without appearing to scoff, and seems consciously aware of the consequences of his actions and words

Values and Goals
Loves: freedom to choose, and he has chosen Aagneya; his family is a bit distressed about this but he genuinely doesn't want to return to their arranged pairing with the town's namesake's line
Has fun with: a Dragonry or Hatchery, this is where he truly has learned to shine, and his ability with organization and business has helped Paniya as a Caer greatly enough that he is likely to become a political force on the dragon Council
Strong goal: build or create; he will help Aagneya with her own desire to make a greenhouse and herbal center here in the mountains. This might be a problem, as the climate on the hillside that Paniya is on isn't really condusive to the same dry-hot weather those herbs usually grow in, but he has plans to get together with some of those engineers around the island... His drive is what attracts people to his ideas, and once this location gets more focused on building such things, it's very likely that the N'somekan traditional herbalism can be done nearly anywhere
Extremely strong fear: wild fires; his second-oldest brother was badly burned in a wildfire that destroyed two houses and a lot of crops when he was young, and the image of Xavier's burned and screaming face as they brought him to the infirmary has been embedded in him ever since; he will avoid known pyrokinetic dragons for this reason, though not openly, and if asked about it he will relate this story in just enough detail for anyone - even a strong pyrokinetic dragon proud of his flames - to understand
Hates: the smell of burning hair - he will go out of his way to avoid attending cookouts and barbeques, unless he knows that the 'catch' is already cleaned and isn't just being dumped into a fire pit
Odd Skill (learned outside of craft if any): club or stick fighting; one of the other Thornbloom families exported wood and weapons, and he learned from them how to handle staves of many different sizes and lengths; he prefers a cane-length staff - as shown, he's absolutely deadly with it even against burly axes or long swords, precision is his game and he uses what amounts to fencing tactics in almost any staff fight; he has taught a good amount to Aagneya, enjoying the challenge of a fight with her because her own tactics are stronger sweeps and surprise tripping or jabs

Originally From: plainsland community called Thornbloom House; the Amber Rose family is among the main four who settled this area; they are on the northern edge of the N'someka desert and situated comfortably where numerous streams and rugged cliffs come together forming a perfect area to settle out of the sun. Concentrating on cultivation and crossbreeding of flowers with both beauty and resistances to rot or other conditions, Amber Rose products often come in the form of a hedge that is capable of rooting and even strangling out Rampage Plant - a significant benefit indeed, and which will be brought to Paniya since a lot of their efforts also deal with this invasive plant
Location size: kind of large, the Thornbloom House is smaller than many 'established' Houses across Paniya, but it will absolutely become more and more important. It's spread of farm and greenery is stopped only at the desert scrub itself, and they have made efforts to put roots only where they'll work best, and not where the gryphons on the plains will rip them out
Location climate: very hot, this place is unforgiving, but with the streams and the broken landscape providing a backdrop it's still well settled
Searched: as a teen; Felix met up with several dragon riders as they made passes over the area, and since then he requested an audience with the Caer to move when it became clear that he and Aagneya wouldn't be allowed to settle together without a fight

From hatching
One of those newly hatched and eagerly chirping dragonets could be seen digging in the soft, warm sand directly below his mother's wingsail, and managed to scooch himself out from under it. He looked quite pleased with himself, absolutely sure that he'd done so without her noticing!

Of course she had seen and felt it, but as a mother must, Fayvazh let the little bronze have his illusions. He was liberally sprinkled with various depths of pale, bright, and slightly reflective peach; his nose resembled the color of sand, but by the time anyone could see his tail they saw a shimmer of metallic bronze clear as day... As well as boldly copper-shaded wingsails, tail spade, and crest. His silver horn nubs were true to his parentage, however similar he might have been to any given bronze around Paniya.

With a bit of swagger, this dragonet plopped himself in front of Felix , the Thornbloom hold runaway, whose girlfriend squealed and clapped her hands when he finally knelt down to help the dragon up. That dragon still looked proud of himself as ever, even if he had to be dusted off and picked up. The palest color of the dragon's hide was echoed in Felix's hair, and apparently they both noted this privately. A conversation was had, one that others weren't privy to.

“This is Stizhek,” Felix announced, and the dragonet attempted to trumpet in agreement... managing to spit a bit of sand onto his new bond. The sand flew in quite a lot of directions, and with a force that indicated much more than merely a sneeze.

They got this dragon registered and squared away, the paperwork being handled once more by Qalam's daughter. A few minutes after this, she nudged her father, but didn't really need to since most could see the red nose squirming under Fayvazh's other wing now. The queen lifted that wing up properly, so that the dragonet didn't have to squirm so much or get himself any more covered than he was by the sand. He wanted to be seen, as he walked with purpose. That purpose was apparently Aagneya.

Though the sand still dusted his dark hide, it was clear that this boldly marked red wanted to bond right away. Heavily speckled between crimson and deep red, the body and backs of his wings were darker than blood. His feet, head and neck, and wing fingertips were dusted with brilliant red, and when he opened his wings up to flap them, getting sand everywhere, they too were incredibly brightly red, with dark mottling along their edges. Silver horns and claws marked him as well, from this accidental-third-clutch.

Several dragons who observed from the ledges above, as well as numerous others in the nearby caverns, gave little trumpets of welcome, when Aagneya embraced him. “Jazuik,” she cried, “says he wants to help me with my greenhouse!” Brighter than any poppy, the dragon seemed to want to get right to it.
