Samuramat's Sanctum - Xeno Hive

Hive Description

Located on a distant, unknown and unnamed world found by Samuramat's exploration, her Hive is mainly situated in an island of rock that floats improbably over the rest of the landscape. From this central location, they have conquered several hundred square miles of the surface below, as well as several other nearby floating locations. The rock here is oddly porous, though not necessarily volcanic in nature, and easily takes to their spore and resin 'farming'.

With the average sizes of the members of this Hive, hollowing out any given floating island is essential, and they often rely on naturally-occurring underground surface features for larger or group areas. The individual members usually have a hollow for themselves, on the islands.

Samuramat's origins as the hybrid offspring of a Xenomorph shifter and a heavily altered human mean she wants to have space to move, live, consult, and perform experiments. Her birthplace was the Healing Den's depths, and as such she has always been familiar with the ways of tunneling, burrowing, and underground life. She expects that most if not all of her Hive will behave accordingly, though with more draconic influences here and there, the surface itself is still amply patrolled.

Their food sources are usually the quadrupedal life forms of the area, but sometimes they will go on much more distant Nexus-based jaunts - more difficult hunts mean more pride in the meal, or a rite of passage for specific members, or even just bragging rights for having caught the best, biggest, meanest, or even the tiniest and quickest prey. There is in fact a roster of such things found in one of the larger meeting areas...

Currently there is no 'hatching chamber' for any eggs or burstlings. But Samuramat will likely provide directions for its construction if any of their females come back with young or gravid, and this chamber will be very well protected. However unlike some of the more touchy members of the Hive, she herself believes that whoever might be best to tutor, bond, impress, or sponsor any young here will be welcome to do so. Bipedal, humanoid, draconic, alien, it won't matter to her. She doesn't tolerate too much in the way of bigotry, but she does understand why some dragons and dragon-adjacent beings in her web of connections hate humans or bonding in general. She believes, though... that maybe they just don't have the right Hive mind to rely on.
