Skills: Trained by her mother, the lead musician Diaz, in many different instruments. However her favorite is a small hand-held harp which she can take with her anywhere. Farika is well versed in history and politics, having attended many meetings with her mother and the High Prince and Princess, as they waited to entertain and relax the officials or to break the tension at important Castle discussions. She loves to explore and be active, and since she does have a strong and clear voice, she enjoys finding locations where sound bounces around in clever ways, casting her echoing voice through hallways or canyons alike. Personality: Though she's definitely a 'Castle Girl' and vastly prefers being in civilization, Farika knows there's a big wide world out there. She is unafraid of Draks but does know better than to brave the wilderness even close to a Castle, since there are more dangers than just Necis and hunting animals. But she does know some ninja and some mob kids alike, after all they have fun stories to listen to and potentially sing about Background: Though her mother allowed Sarme to be taken by her father Efoshiq to places far distant, her first child remained by Diaz's side, only 'escaping' now and then to play with the other Castle kids or explore in controlled settings to find new wood or reeds for their instrument making. It was while she and some others were on such a trip, wading through knee-high slow moving waters to pull up those useful reeds, that a pair of Draks nosed around the stream. Without riders, they conferred to each other in their quiet, hissing way, until they were bold enough to single Farika out. Appropriate for a visit to a Drak's nest and presentation, they claiemd. She was Judged already, this wasn't the first time she'd heard about it. There had been talk of bringing Farika somewhere long before this, but when the Draks attempted to open a portal to that location... it just wasn't present. Confused and slightly disappointed, Farika had been sent home and went through an 'emo' phase in her singing and song writing. But now, with this second pair of Draks having more confidence that they 'had a place', Farika informed her mother (and her father, who happened to be nearby) (and then she realized that her younger sister had already mind-paired? doesn't anyone tell her things?) and started packing up. It would be to Acicade Castle they would take her, a place that she'd heard of from several Castle inhabitants. A lush forest, something she'd never seen before, stretched below her as they approached, and her heart fluttered. Farika was giddy, glad to be finally at a place that existed, with beautiful draks that might just suit her strong will. ** They'd waited only a few weeks, adjusting to the amazing sights and sounds, and scents - the forest was so different than her dry, dusty home. Farika helped out with duties that all Aspirants were required to learn, and while she swept up or attended the classes about drak care and health, she listened to those huge trees and the rustling of the leaves. They inspired her! There were different birds and insects here, calling out with similar but distinct songs. She too would be writing and singing slightly different songs now. Particularly when the excited trio of young Draklings were bounding out of their isolated chamber. She could tell that their dam would have preferred them remain behind her - her own mother all but had the same slightly-tired expression on her face at times! Jaryunha announced those three draklings, and they had barely stopped moving before they started up again. The Night was first to find her pair, and the unusually colorful Plant was still prowling around with mischief in his body language when the Mud found Farika. Other eyes were on them while Qinhasu finally stopped pacing around, sitting right in front of Farika. A local woman, Mirrim, was already collecting herself and striding toward the pair. Qinhasu commented, "ssshe makesz nize mussic too," of the woman. It was implicit in his tone, and his mind's gentle touch, that he had been waiting for this moment much longer than she realized. When she'd been standing outside, there was a little note of curiosity, when she'd walked the halls humming she almost felt like there was an echo she hadn't produced. He was that little echo, and he wouldn't remain little for long!
** With her skills working around people, Mirrim and Farika got along famously. While Farika definitely knew her way around a musical score and had experience making instruments, Mirrim was organized and sensible with groups. Farika learned how to spot problems among teams or groups easily, how to find who was in charge even if it was for an event that she herself wasn't going to participate in. "Leaders carry themselves differently - even if they aren't wanting the responsibility," Mirrim suggested, and nodded toward one kid that had arrived with a group just as Farika was going to be heading home. "See how he moves?" "He doubts himself, but no one else does," Farika noticed, "if he's here to be an Aspirant, I hope that his Drak will help him gain the confidence he needs in his own abilities." Mirrim smiled softly, and as proudly as she might be of her own children. The pair moved upwards into the skies over Acicade, and then popped back to Dun Keiba, where they would pass along their knowledge to others needing to find their way in the world. ** They would become greeters, escorting new arrivals to their expected locations - but also as Farika's mother was still directly involved with the Castle's workings, Farika and Qinhasu helped provide much needed expansion to the songs and customs of the castle. |
