An Indistinct Amount Of Time After The Lost Clutch and Probably Before Death Court / Hydra Leave

"So about that clutch, you keep scooting away before we can, you know." Rue bumped her hip against Shard's side, and he chuckled.

"Wasn't sure you'd approve, the Caerlord is still a bit uppity about our off-world dragons gettin' busy." He gazed at the haze beyond their den, where barely visible in the distance was the Painyan main island.

"What happens on our part of the isle stays on our part of the isle," Rue intoned, tapping her finger against her chin, "but Bei has also said something recently that made me wonder... we don't have to fly here, and there are others."

"Too many others, according to even Hollis," was the reply. "But, I'm curious now, where has your lovely green discovered?"

"We were there before, the Healing Den hosted Jere's clutch, and truth be told Beirissath may have forgotten about it in the meantime."

Shard tilted his head to look just beyond the shelving that framed their dragons' ledge, where the green and blue dragons seemed quite content to snooze.

"I doubt that she has forgotten a thing," he muttered. "Like you, my one." To which she - and Beirissath - gave a little chuckle.

Eventually however, they gathered the dragons and asked both to send out 'suggestions' to the members of the Weyr and Hold, there were dragons whose bloodlines were poorly represented and others who had scattered cousins anywhere you look. But together with this pair, they would approach Baeris and the Den.

--

"I mean, of course you can? The main hatching chamber has seen its share of things, and..." she glanced at another part of the sprawling cavern, "there's always room for more if the queens can tolerate each other."

Of those, only one looked like she'd snap at anyone or any other dragons, but there was a general consensus: they would like to lay here, in fact they'd like to fly here.

That was where Baeris was a bit worried.

"You... know that the Den isn't 'anywhere', right? Like, it's between. Between between, 'outside'."

"Space and time are meaningless to teleporting dragons, though," Rue said, but even she was hesitant to just 'allow' her green to wander between longer than needed.

"It should be fine," it was Kalkin who seemed apt to mysteriously pop up whenever anyone 'fun' showed up to the Den - he hadn't even been on the same level as Baeris and her office how had... y'know what, never mind, he hears everything through solid rock. "The Den's active atmosphere is actually pretty far out from the surface all the way around." He pursed his thin lips and reached for one of the items on Baeris's desk, held up a data pad and tapped out something. It then showed an image of the Den from the Outside, which was a feat because the Outside wasn't even between it was an entirely different dimension of spacetime.

"See where the static ends?" He said, swishing the image around, it was fully 3-d. It was a real time camera, but he didn't tell anyone else that. "That's the safe field, it's more than large enough for clever dragons that want to have a challenging place to fly."

"But fly fly?" Rue asked, "really?"

The pair of scientist Sangers both blinked calmly at Rue, same blue eyes, different dimension. Shard would have done the same, if he'd been on Baeris's other side. However, he put his arms protectively around his wife and settled his chin on her fluffy hair, "I think their dragons have had some fun around the Den's location, hun, should be fine."

He felt her moment of realization as she pulled in a breath, and then chuckled it out, "I ... understand..."

--

They did understand, these dragons from the Old World, and even Older bloodlines. A few newer ones tried nosing in, but no, they'd already selected 'who would fly' and 'who would win' privately. While the Pernese blood in the greens and a brown female sang with a tint of anger that they would not have proper suitors to aggressively chase them, they'd done their share of contemplation and bickering and hissing before all this played out. Their riders might get a kick out of being around one another, maybe not - but this wouldn't be the spectacle of a traditional flight or even a frenzy. This was a private thing, and because the Den would be hosting it, they each had their own moments to fly apart from one another. No green or gold would bump into one another on this journey through time-space. Well that was because the brown female was being chased by the gold... male.

"Drone footage is back," Kalkin said, grinning. "I still don't understand why you wouldn't-"

"Wouldn't let Dulath and Sixth go out there again?" Baeris cut him off, "because," she slowly reached for something on her desk, it was a spray bottle with water in it. Full. "Every-" spritz "time-" spritz "they-" spritz "mate-" spritspritspritz "I have another set of kids!" spritz spritz spritz "Absolutely!" sppppppriiiiiitzzzz "Fucking!" it was empty but she kept trying "Not!"

"Where did you even get that?" Kalkin asked, sopping.

Baeris looked at him like he was absolutely insane, or at least insane for asking. "I... have an entire greenhouse of poisonous plants, herbs, and food. Where do you think I got it?"

He glanced away, hoping for a towel, but not finding one. "I mean, yeah, but. You don't have them in here," he seemed to be implying the correct response, which she did not give - she knew he'd be back asking...

Eventually though, the queens of various sizes and colors settled in to their nooks in the main hatching dome. This location had hosted far, far more clutches than this all at once, so they had room to spread out. While the females tended the eggs and were in turn tended to by locals, some who had remained in the Den since hatching and others (maybe many others) who came in from elsewhere, their sires often enough took to the Nexus to look for suitable candidates.

All of them would probably be very, very surprised by just how many eggs were laid, in the end. But the records will have all that information eventually!

There are no limits on these clutches. That's right: there are going to be as many as needed, and if people want some other parents I suppose I could always add more I have dozens that have never been bred. Stories are entirely optional, since all suggestions will basically be honored if they fit with the results below. Stat pages are very welcome. Most will accept 'any' kind of physical being as a bond, so dragons, humans, furries, robots, whatever, usually as long as they can tend a hatchling or be present to aid the adult. Multiple bonds are acceptable, but not herds/packs please just like one-or-two. Some amount of flexibility will be present for adding other powers where indicated, since these have been conceived, laid, and hatched at the Healing Den while outside-of-timespace, in addition to several having straight up non-pernese powers available. Most personalities will be up to you, but I might slip in things here and there. I will not be writing up full hatchings but I might suggest or bullet list events. Also feel free to swipe the background and header image if you want to display it, but a link back to this page is required on the page these dragons will be residing.

IMAGE CHOICES

Each of these images has been cleaned and formatted for coloring. Not all of them have the same visible options. Sakubith/Curiosith clutch may have changes but I also might be too lazy to do that so you'll have to imagine or I'll just yank the features during colors.

You MAY choose to have your character bond or impress an Adult or take both images for a hatching event as needed, it's up to you, but most clutches do not require bonding at hatch. As for where these unbonded young-adults will be during that gap, obviously the Healing Den has lots of room for them...
