Events or History: (from original hatching) Abruptly, another large shell from Diamis' sands cracked open with a loud sound. The bronze-colored head which emerged first had a silver crown on it, with a white opal telling the world it was male, a ruby and a sapphire gem on either side of it. Thinking there would be something more to this, and totally bored with the goings-on so far, Laurethiel and Talithya swept down from their perches in the high stands to see what this dragon-hydra might look like closer up. Two other main heads emerged, and had the gall to have black crowns. As if this was a Majestic or Chaos hydra! But there were only six more head nubs, this was a nine-headed mix. The other heads had one sapphire each set in their crowns. When the thickly built dragon-hydra came fully out of his shell, everyone could see nicely shaped but far too small wings on his back. They were for show, then. His tail split at the end, but also had a dragon's distinct spades on each one. And quite as abruptly as he'd been interrupted by these two women from some other world, he decided that eating one of them was right about the best thing in the world. Two of his heads grasped Laurethiel by her arms, and the third gazed at her as she couldn't even scream. Her head was in his mouth, in an instant. Talithya stood by, her flaming hair sputtering gracefully in the breeze. When the big hydra-creature had eaten all but the shoes of her former friend, Talithya nodded. “A fine thing. You know I could never stand how she insisted upon calling me by my old name.” I shall call you Copper, is that it? You must call me Kalkenoux then. It is only fair. The pair disappeared to wherever it was that the Copper Queen decided they should rest, since he'd already had his first meal. Stunned, and completely silent, the sands and the stands remained almost perfectly still as the spell taking them away faded in the air. As one, people began to shudder, and some younger folk began to cry. This evening certainly had been a mix of terror and amazement. ** He returned alone. |

Among those three first hatchlings was a bright yellow of Hexeth's brood, a blood court indeed. And that one... Moved toward the group as well. The yellow stalked back and forth before the hydragons, always just far enough away to be out of reach of their many heads. She narrowed her eyes and huffed at the lot of them, and seemed ready to turn away. Stop stalling, Faiyarionth, Kalkenoux said, lashing his whip-like tail ends against the sand. He knew her name already. He felt something deep, but denied it until she could prove she was worth having. I need a strong bond, she shot back. Are you sure you're strong enough? Apparently, she had the same idea. Kalkenoux bent his central head down to her level, lips peeling back in a rictus grin. Why don't you come closer and find out? Faiyarionth seemed hesitant a moment, almost wavering in her confidence. Then she lifted her head high and stalked up to Kalkenoux until she stood snout to snout with him. This seemed to amuse the bronze hydragon and he drew back his main head to make room for her at his feet. |

(2026) from hatching by Mystic Meanwhile, Kalkenoux had found something of interest in one of the balespawn hatchlings. He separated out a small, pale blue hatchling from its siblings and caught it up in his claws. A rip-cord snarl tore from all of his mouths as the hatchling chomped down on one of his fingers. Reacting on impulse, he tossed the hatchling to the ground, where it bounced and rolled away several feet. ::Insolent little worm,:: Kalkenoux growled. If the hatchling had a response, it was drowned out by a discordant symphony of laughter echoing through the cavern. ::These balespawn have little fear.:: ::What they should have is respect.:: ::Respect is earned, dear Kalkenoux.:: Twenty heads bent down to look at the proud little hatchling. Twenty muzzles broke into wide, toothy grins as She of Many Mouths extended a claw to the balespawn. ::Come here, Wahid. You will learn who is worthy of respect in my care.:: As Kalkenoux turned to move back to his group, a small, green thing darted out in front of his claws. He hesitated, then bent his heads down to inspect the little Death Court hatchling with two extra head nubs. ::Nufoth. You seem better mannered than that other one.:: With that backhanded bit of approval given, he scooped the hatchling up in one claw and continued back to the group. |
